Appearance-wise, most T.G. monsters are various cybernetic lifeforms, animals primarily, infused with machines to create bio-organic lifeforms. This is enforced through the shared trait of their anime equivalents as all T.G. monsters shared the unique effect to also be treated as Machine monsters, a trait that would be later referenced through the Spell Card "T.G. All Clear".

In the Japanese 5Ds anime, the T.G. monsters had additional codes in their names that referenced their primary Type followed by a number. For example, "T.G. Striker" in the 5Ds anime was listed as "Tech Genus Striker WA-01" in which the "WA" referred to it being a Warrior monster. This naming convention is further explored with the theme's Synchro Monsters through the inclusion of a "X" at the end of their type status and the increase to the number used at the end of the serial code that evolves further with each stage of Synchro Monster reached, reaching numbers of 1000, 10000, and ∞. The only outliers to this being "T.G. Hyper Librarian" and "T.G. Recipro Dragonfly", which have the codes of "1100" and "00" respectively
In the Japanese anime, each of them has a code in their name which references their Type, followed by a number. This includes their status as they have X's at the end of their names to indicate their evolution of Synchro Monsters:
+
* Synchro - X-1000
* Synchro - X
+
* Accel Synchro - XX-10000
* Accel Synchro - XX
+
* Delta Accel Synchro - XXX-∞
* Delta Accel Synchro - XXX

They are high tech monsters from the future and they share a variation of this effect in the anime:
+
In addition to this, all "T.G." supporting Spell and Trap Cards from the initial wave have an initialism in their names that represents their intended functions.

This card can also be treated as a Machine-Type monster. When a Spell or Trap Card you control targets this card, you can halve this card's original ATK and DEF. When this card is destroyed, you can add 1 "T.G." monster card from your Deck to your hand. You cannot Summon it this turn.
+
Playing style
 +
"T.G." thematically focuses on Accel Synchro Summon, or Synchro Summoning using Tuner Synchro Monsters and non-Tuner Synchro Monsters, optionally during the opponent's turn. Secondarily, some "T.G." monsters can add any 1 "T.G." monster from the Deck to the hand at the End Phase of the turn if they were destroyed on the field.

In Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 5, it is possible to use the card obtained during the same turn, and the ATK and DEF reduction is not present among their effects.
+
"T.G." includes 4 "Accel Synchro Monsters" requiring Synchro Monsters as materials: the Level 10 "Blade Blaster" and "Shooting Star Dragon T.G. EX", and the Level 12 "Halberd Cannon", and "Glaive Blaster". They act as the Deck's in-theme end goals.

The real life version of the "T.G." cards consist of monsters who can "replace" themselves with different monsters when they're destroyed. Most of the non-Synchro Monsters search for other "T.G." monsters besides ones that share their name (for example, a "T.G. Warwolf" can search for any "T.G." monster besides "T.G. Warwolf"), while all of the Synchro Monsters (except "T.G. Blade Blaster") draw cards or Summon monsters.
+
To make these bosses during setup, the Deck has to swarm "T.G." Main Deck monsters to make multiple non-Accel "T.G." Synchro Monsters to be used as material. Non-Accel "T.G." Synchro Monsters can easily faciliatate "T.G." Accel Synchro requirements as they are either Level 5 or 2, and each Level contains Tuner Synchro Monsters (Level 5: "Wonder Magician" and "Star Guardian"; Level 2: "Mighty Striker").

Despite their bionic appearance and names, the only existing Machine "T.G." monsters are Accel Synchro and Link Monsters. Of note, no members that reside in the Main Deck share the same Type either, except for the currently-unreleased "Gear Zombie" and "Metal Skeleton". All "T.G." supporting Spell and Trap Cards have an initialism in their names.
+
The main enablers for "T.G." Main Deck swarming are their Extra Deck monsters "T.G. Trident Launcher", "T.G. Over Dragonar", and "T.G. Star Guardian"; the former two locks the player into only "T.G." monsters for the rest of the turn:
 +
* "T.G. Trident Launcher" is a Link 3 Link Monster able to summon 3 "T.G." monsters, 1 each from the hand, Deck, and GY.
 +
* "T.G. Over Dragonar" is a Level 5 Synchro Monster able to Special Summon any number of "T.G." monsters from the GY.
 +
* "T.G. Star Guardian" is a Level 5 Tuner Synchro Monster able to (indirectly) Special Summon 1 "T.G." monster from the GY.

Playing style
+
"T.G." main deck combo enablers are the follows:
The goal of the archetype is to Accel Synchro Summon "T.G." monsters to control the field. "T.G. Blade Blaster" can negate Spells and Traps while "T.G. Halberd Cannon" can negate Summons. Due to the ease of low-Level Synchro Summons, Summoning the two aforementioned monsters is a matter of summoning and protecting the Synchro Material Monsters. A good rival of "T.G. Halberd Cannon" is "Shooting Quasar Dragon" due to the high attack stats and powerful effects. Although "Quasar" is preferred due to the multiple attacking ability. One could also Synchro Summon "Cosmic Blazar Dragon" or "Stardust Sifr Divine Dragon" instead for more control of your opponent or protection, respectively.
+
* "T.G. Screw Serpent": Level 4 Tuner with own on-summon extension effect.
 +
* "T.G. Rocket Salamander": Level 1 non-Tuner with searching and extension effect; due to being both a combo enabler and a searcher, it is the Deck's main starter.
 +
* "T.G. Tank Grub": Level 1 Tuner/non-Tuner who floats into a Level 1 non-Tuner Token when used as Synchro Material.

"T.G. Striker", "T.G. Warwolf", and "T.G. Booster Raptor" are the best cards to swarm with. At the very least, in case you cannot Synchro Summon, you can build a defense and let your opponent destroy them, giving you plenty of cards to add to your hand at the End Phase.
+
By using and reviving "Screw Serpent" with the effects of "Over Dragonar", "Star Guardian", and "Rocket Salamander", and then using them with Level 1 non-Tuner extenders to make Level 5 Synchro Monsters, "T.G." can quickly make necessary Level 5 Synchro Monsters for Accel Synchro materials. Additional swarming (offered by cards like "T.G. All Clear", "T.G. Booster Raptor", "T.G. Drill Fish", "T.G. Gear Zombie", and "T.G. Warwolf"), accessible by searchers like "T.G. Limiter Removal", "T.G. Mighty Striker", and "T.G. All Clear", can fill in the remaining gaps needed to setup up Accel Synchro. "T.G. Close" rounds out the strategy with an extra searchable backrow interruption.

Because of the extensive use of Level 5 Synchro Monsters, a T.G. Deck can easily summon powerful monsters outside the archetype, such as "Hi-Speedroid Chanbara", "Armades, Keeper of Boundaries", and in some cases Naturia Beast.
+
Externally, the Deck's starter, "T.G. Rocket Salamander", can be searched by "Bonfire" or the "Snake-Eye"/"Diabellstar" engine.

Weaknesses
Weaknesses
Since this archetype is one of the most Synchro-focused archetypes, rivaling Yusei-themed and Inca Decks, all anti-Synchro support can kill the Deck, in addition to all the typical Anti-Meta strategies that most Decks fall prey to. "Dimensional Barrier" can prevent you from Synchro Summoning for a turn. "Soul Drain" completely turns off almost all of your "T.G." monsters, preventing you from activating your Graveyard effects to draw, Special Summon, or search. None of the non-Synchro Monsters provide any offensive capabilities, barring "Rush Rhino" with "TGX300" on the field. "Thunder King Rai-Oh" and "Mistake" can also stop their searching. Use "TG1-EM1" or "Creature Swap" to take control of your opponent's monster when you don't have strong attack power. Also, nearly all monsters have effects that ease the Synchro Summons while wreaking havoc on the player's hand. Therefore, field clearing becomes even more important so protect your monsters (especially "T.G. Hyper Librarian" with "Starlight Road" or "My Body as a Shield". You can also run multiple copies of "TGX3-DX2", due to the rate at which the T.G. monsters are Summoned, and - consequently - sent to the Graveyard to replenish your hand and recycle your T.G. monsters.
+
* As a Synchro-focused archetype, the Deck is weak to anti-Synchro floodgates. (e.g. "Dimensional Barrier", "Vanity's Emptiness")

+
* Due to the searching and tutoring needed for the Deck's main combos, the Deck is weak to anti-Searching floodgates. (e.g. "Mistake")
Additionally, the "T.G." archetype is extremely weak to many common Side-Deck cards, such as "Gozen Match", "Vanity's Emptiness", and "Mistake". "Rivalry of Warlords" deserves a special mention, because it completely shuts down the deck, due to the T.G. monsters consisting of entirely different Types. Because of this, one should build their Main/Side deck with these threats in mind. "TGX1-HL" is a great card that T.G.'s have at their disposal, which is functionally the same as "Mystical Space Typhoon", should one need additional Spell/Trap removal.
+
* Due to the Deck featuring many different types and Attributes, it is weak to "Gozen Match" and "Rivalry of Warlords".
 +
* The Deck has limited in-engine removal, making it struggle to go second against an established board.

"T.G.", short for "Tech Genus" (TGテックジーナス Tekku Jīnasu), is an archetype used by Antinomy in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's and made their debut in Extreme Victory

Design[edit]

In addition to this, all "T.G." supporting Spell and Trap Cards from the initial wave have an initialism in their names that represents their intended functions.

Playing style[edit]

"T.G." thematically focuses on Accel Synchro Summon, or Synchro Summoning using Tuner Synchro Monsters and non-Tuner Synchro Monsters, optionally during the opponent's turn. Secondarily, some "T.G." monsters can add any 1 "T.G." monster from the Deck to the hand at the End Phase of the turn if they were destroyed on the field.

The main enablers for "T.G." Main Deck swarming are their Extra Deck monsters "T.G. Trident Launcher", "T.G. Over Dragonar", and "T.G. Star Guardian"; the former two locks the player into only "T.G." monsters for the rest of the turn:

 • "T.G. Trident Launcher" is a Link 3 Link Monster able to summon 3 "T.G." monsters, 1 each from the hand, Deck, and GY.
 • "T.G. Over Dragonar" is a Level 5 Synchro Monster able to Special Summon any number of "T.G." monsters from the GY.
 • "T.G. Star Guardian" is a Level 5 Tuner Synchro Monster able to (indirectly) Special Summon 1 "T.G." monster from the GY.

"T.G." main deck combo enablers are the follows:

 • "T.G. Screw Serpent": Level 4 Tuner with own on-summon extension effect.
 • "T.G. Rocket Salamander": Level 1 non-Tuner with searching and extension effect; due to being both a combo enabler and a searcher, it is the Deck's main starter.
 • "T.G. Tank Grub": Level 1 Tuner/non-Tuner who floats into a Level 1 non-Tuner Token when used as Synchro Material.

Externally, the Deck's starter, "T.G. Rocket Salamander", can be searched by "Bonfire" or the "Snake-Eye"/"Diabellstar" engine.

Recommended cards[edit]

Weaknesses[edit]

 • As a Synchro-focused archetype, the Deck is weak to anti-Synchro floodgates. (e.g. "Dimensional Barrier", "Vanity's Emptiness")
 • Due to the searching and tutoring needed for the Deck's main combos, the Deck is weak to anti-Searching floodgates. (e.g. "Mistake")
 • Due to the Deck featuring many different types and Attributes, it is weak to "Gozen Match" and "Rivalry of Warlords".
 • The Deck has limited in-engine removal, making it struggle to go second against an established board.
