Can you activate Karma Cut, Threatening Roar, Triggered Summon, Dust Tornado or Birthright in the Damage Step or Battle Step?? Jupitus 12:49, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

In response to the opponent's attack declaration in the Battle Step, yes. But not in the Damage step. Poisoni (talkcontribs) 14:33, November 17, 2012 (UTC)

During the Battle Step, timing rules are same as standard. Most Traps and Quick-Play Spells can be activated. But, once the Damage Step has been entered, only certain effects can be activated. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, effects that DIRECTLY modify a monster's ATK or DEF, Counter Trap Cards, effects that are specifically related to battle, and mandatory Trigger Effects. Most of these can only be used before Damage Calculation; Honest is one of the few cards that can activate an effect during Damage Calculation. Note that "directly" means you can't activate Reckless Greed even though it would alter the ATK and DEF of your face-up Tragoedia, because Reckless Greed itself doesn't change the stats. And just a reminder, Talk Pages aren't for ruling questions, there is a Forum to ask these questions on. AEtherchild (Talk|Contribs) 00:16, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

Flipping Face-Up and Before Damage Calculation

This pretty much tells you that the flipping action occurs before damage calculation and not some time between then and the start of the Damage Step. I suggest putting the entire flipping face-up section into before damage calculation as bullet points, similar to how there were bullets during damage calculation that describes performing damage calculation, and at the end of the Damage Step when monsters are sent to the Graveyard by battle. True, it technically falls under the before damage calculation part of the Damage Step. But it has enough detail to merit its own section, as seen in one version of UDE's Damage Step chart. If possible, I would label it as a sub-section underneath "Before damage calculation", like so:
==Before damage calculation==
===Flipping the face-down monster face-up===

However, the problem is how to distinguish the original 3 bullet points in the original "Before damage calculation" section. Putting them first would be weird, since the actions regarding flipping occur first. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 21:41, February 15, 2016 (UTC)
