Monsters

Shouldn't we not be adding monsters which we assume Yuya will use his deck until ARC V anime is released, except for the ones previewed. --The Supreme Master Of Stivdog 17:12, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Yuya's Dueling Record

Should we mention that before his duel with Hokuto, Yuya had won 26 out of 46 duels. Not only that, but should we also mention his wins/loses against unknown duelists like Junpei, Koichiro, etc.. This information was given in Episode 08.--Omojuze (talk • contribs) 16:27, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

I added it to his record. I wanted to explain the math in the edit history, but it published prematurely, so the explanation is here instead:

Yuya was mentioned in episode 15 to have won 26 out of 46 Duels. This presumably includes his on-screen Duels with Strong Ishijima, Yuzu Hiragi, Shingo Sawatari, Sora Shiun'in, Hokuto Shijima, Declan, and Shuzo (7 Duels, 6 won by Yuya). Since I wanted to add only the Duels that had happened off-screen, this meant that before the events of the first episode, Yuya had won 20 out of 39 Duels. Another assumption was made that none of those Duels resulted in a Draw, meaning that Yuya had won 20 Duels and lost 19. RedDrgn (talk • contribs) 02:46, January 14, 2015 (UTC)

Upon further investigation, it seems I missed some details; despite Dueling four times between episodes 8 and 15, his match record was still 26 out of 46, meaning those four Duels were off the record for some reason. Yuya's Decks

Maybe. We usually just split Decklists by arc when they get too large. Yuya's is probably getting there. I'd have no objections to splitting, but we'd want it split between the three arcs thus far, not just two. Cheesedude (talk • contribs) 00:05, May 24, 2015 (UTC)

I was under the impression that we dropped splitting of characters' decks by arcs/seasons. It's not like Yuya changed his deck or combined it with another archetype. He still uses the good ol' Performapals, albeit with new strategies involving Fusion and Xyz. -- The Talk Goblin 13:02, June 1, 2015 (UTC)

We want to keep decklists merged when possible, but its simply not feasible for main characters (DM has more splits because of the clear arc structures and the fact that the rules change). It really does need to be done on a case-by-case basis. Yuya's deck is only going to continue to get bigger. We don't necessarily have to split it yet, but I'd call it inevitable. Yuya's Name Etymology

Would really like to erase Yuya's name etymology concerning the Egyptian part. Japanese language doesn't work like English when running through name etymology. That kind of thinking usually only applies when a character's name is written in Katakana, and especially when they're given English spellings like Yugo/Hugo.

Since Yuya's name is written in Kanji, his name must be broken down by Kanji, not through how it's pronounce in English, or worse, English-Egyptians. Of course unless, the author or director says otherwise.

But actually, Yuya's first name doesn't really mean anything that much. The 遊 just means game and 矢 means arrow. That's about it.

It's his surname that's meant for concern. While Sakaki 榊 just means evergreen tree, in Shinto religion it's actually used to call upon deities while having the area protected. However, discussion amongst Japanese fans say that Sakaki is instead, a vessel for a divine being. Probably means the same idea, but just different wording. An example of the discussion is this.
