  • In episode 106, this card is shown in Jesse Anderson's hand during his Duel against Jaden Yuki. In the next episode, Jesse summons this card in Attack Position. After "Topaz Tiger" attacks and destroys "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin", Jesse uses this card to attack directly at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Jaden takes. Later "Elemental HERO Flare Neos" (whose ATK was 4600 due to it being powered up by its own effect and the effect of "Neo Space") attacks this card, but Jesse activates "Last Resort" to activate "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" from his Deck. This causes the ATK of "Flare Neos" then decreases to 3700. "Flare Neos" then destroys this card, but Jesse activates the second effect of "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins" to halve the Battle Damage he takes. Jesse then activates this card's last effect to place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. Later Jesse Special Summons this card, "Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat", and "Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth" from his Spell & Trap Card Zone via the second effect of "Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle". After "Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus" had attacked, this card attacks directly via its own effect at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Jaden takes. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
    • In the second above-mentioned episode, this card can be seen at the end of the episode when Jaden and Jesse reveal to each other various strategies that they didn't use during the opening exhibition Duel.
  • In episode 115, Jesse uses this card during his duel against Trapper. He summons this card in Attack Position. This card then attacks directly via its own effect at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Trapper takes, but Trapper activates the effect of "Lure Phantom" to return this card and "Lure Phantom" to their owners' hands. Trapper then activates "Hunting Net" to place this card in his Spell & Trap Card Zone and place one Prey Counter on it. Later Trapper activates "Dark Auction" to return this card to Jesse's hand by inflicting damage to Jesse equal to this card's ATK. Trapper then suddenly activates "Hunting Net" to place this card in his Spell & Trap Card Zone and place one Prey Counter on it. In the next episode, Trapper activates "Decoy Baby" to target this card and place "Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger" in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as well as place one Prey Counter on "Topaz Tiger". On the last turn of the Duel, Jesse activates "Take Flight" to return this card, "Topaz Tiger", "Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth", "Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise", and "Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle" to his hand. Jesse then activates "GEM Burst" to place all Crystal Beasts in his hand into his Spell & Trap Card Zone as Continuous Spell Cards and inflict 500 damage to Trapper for each Crystal Beast placed into Jesse's Spell & Trap Card Zone. Since five Crystal Beasts were placed into Jesse's Spell & Trap Card Zone this way, Trapper takes 2500 damage and this wins Jesse the duel.
    • In the second above-mentioned episode, this card is shown in a flashback Jesse has when he remembers obtaining the Crystal Beasts from Maximillion Pegasus. Pegasus claims to Jesse that the Crystal Beasts chose him to be their wielder as he could connect his heart to Duel Monster Spirits.
  • In episode 121, Jesse uses this card during his duel against Titan, the Rock Spirit. After Jesse summons this card, he uses it to attack "Sand Doodlebug", but Titan activates the third effect of "Sand Doodlebug" to negate the attack. On Jesse's End Phase, "Sand Doodlebug's" first effect destroys this card. Jesse then activates this card's last effect to place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
    • Later when the gang are attacked by a bunch of "Fiend Scorpions" and an "8-Claws Scorpion" in the submarine, Jesse summons this card and "Topaz Tiger" and uses them to destroy the many scorpions.
  • In episode 128, Jesse uses this card during his duel against Zane Truesdale. After Jesse summons this card, he equips this card with "Crystal Release", increasing its ATK by 800. This card then attacks directly at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Zane takes. Later "Cyberdark Dragon" (whose ATK was 3600 due to it being equipped with "Infernal Dragon" and due to it being powered up by its own effect) attacks and destroys this card. Jesse then activates the second effect of "Crystal Release" to take "Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle" from his Deck and place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. Jesse then activates this card's last effect to place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. After Jesse Special Summons "Ruby Carbuncle" through its first effect, he activates the second effect of "Ruby Carbuncle" to Special Summon this card, "Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise", and "Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth" from the Spell & Trap Card Zone. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
  • In episode 172, Jesse uses this card during his Duel against Jaden while the latter was thinking that Jesse was Trueman (This was due to the darkness from "Arcana Force 0 - The Fool" infecting Jaden's "Polymerization" card). He Special Summons this card via "Golden Rule". After Jesse Special Summons "Topaz Tiger" via "Crystal Beacon", he uses "Topaz Tiger" to attack "Elemental HERO Burstinatrix", but Jaden activates "Mirror Gate" to switch control of both battling monsters before damage is calculated. "Topaz Tiger" then destroys "Burstinatrix". This card then attacks directly via its own effect at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Jaden takes. After "Golden Rule" is destroyed by its third effect, its last effect activates, destroying this card.
  • In episode 175, Jesse uses this card during his Triangle Duel against Jaden and Yusuke Fujiwara. After Yusuke seemingly finds Jesse's darkness and declares out that he should beat Jaden, Jesse Normal Summons this card in Attack Position. This card then attacks Jaden directly via its own effect at the cost of halving the Battle Damage Jaden takes. Jaden then activates "Damage Interest" to inflict damage to Jesse equal to twice the damage he just received. Jesse then activates "Damage Capture" to increase the ATK of "Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus" equal to the damage he just received until the End Phase. Jesse then, to Yusuke's shock, orders "Sapphire Pegasus" to attack "Clear Rage Golem". It is at this point Jaden and Jesse reveal that they were pretending to have been turned against each other, but whatever Yusuke saw in Jesse's mind was not darkness. "Sapphire Pegasus" then attacks "Clear Rage Golem", but Yusuke destroys "Clear Wall" to negate the damage and prevent "Clear Rage Golem" from being destroyed. On Jesse's End Phase, the EARTH effect of "Clear World" activates and Jesse chooses to destroy this card. Jesse then activates this card's last effect to place it in his Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. In the next episode, Jesse activates the second effect of "Rainbow Dragon" to return all cards on the field to their owners' Decks.
  • In the anime, this card's attack is called "Amethyst Power Pounce" in the English version and "Amethyst Nail" in the Japanese version.
  • In the dub, Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat speaks in the same manner and voice as [Newmar|Julie Newmar], one of the actresses that played Catwoman on the '60s TV show "Batman".

Naming[edit]

In the Spanish anime dub, its name changed (since in the TCG this card was listed as male and in the anime it's a female) to "Bestia de Cristal Gata Amatista".
