TCG Rulings

• This effect targets 1 "Blackwing" monster in your Graveyard.

• Special Summoning a monster with this effect is not considered a Synchro Summon.

• You can activate this effect even if "Discord" is active.

• If the effect of "Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is being negated by "Skill Drain" you can use it for a Synchro Summon while it is on the field.

• If the Synchro Monster you want to Summon with Vayu’s effect is no longer in your Extra Deck when the effect resolves, you must Special Summon another appropriate Synchro Monster instead. If you do not have one, your opponent can check your Extra Deck to verify.

• If an effect causes you to have no cards in your Extra Deck when Vayu’s effect resolves, you still remove from play [sic] Vayu and the selected "Blackwing" monster.

• If Vayu or the targeted "Blackwing" monster isn’t in the Graveyard when this effect resolves, the effect is not applied.

Mentions in Other Rulings

• Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant: You can Special Summon "Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant" with the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor." You will need to remove from play a Level 7 "Blackwing" monster to do so.

• Discord: You can activate the effect of "Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor" while "Discord" is active to Special Summon a Synchro Monster because it is not a Synchro Summon.

OCG Rulings

• The effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" which Special Summons a Synchro Monster targets one other "Blackwing" monster in your Graveyard.

• If an effect is chained to the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" which removes the intended Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck, if there is another appropriate Synchro Monster in your Extra Deck, then you must Special Summon that monster, even if the new monster is different from the one you originally intended to Summon.

• If an effect is chained to the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" which removes the intended Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck, if there is no other appropriate monster in your Extra Deck that you can Special Summon, then "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" and the other "Blackwing" monster are still removed from play.

• The Special Summoned of a Synchro Monster by "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is not treated as a Synchro Summon. The Synchro Monster is not considered to be properly Special Summoned, so it cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard by an effect like "Monster Reborn".

• If "D.D. Crow" or "Disappear" is chained to the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" and removes from the Graveyard "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" and/or the other "Blackwing" monster, then the entire effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" disappears. No "Blackwing" monster is Special Summoned, and no monster is removed from play due to the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor".

• If the monster Special Summoned by "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is flipped face-down by an effect like "Book of Moon", then you no longer apply the effect "the effect(s) of the Special Summoned monster by this effect is negated" of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor". Once the Synchro Monster is flipped face-up, its effect will no longer be negated.

• If "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is Special Summoned by the effect of "Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame", then the effect "while this card is face-up on the field, this card cannot be used as Synchro Material Monster" of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" is negated, so it can be used for a Synchro Summon.

• When "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" Special Summons a Synchro Monster, the Special Summon is not treated as a Synchro Summon. Thus, if "Discord" is active, then the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" can still be activated.

• You may use the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" to Special Summon "Blackwing - Silverwind the Ascendant" (Level 8) by removing from play "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" (Level 1) and a Level 7 "Blackwing" monster.

• Black-Winged Dragon: Cards like "Black-Winged Dragon" and "Black-Winged Strafe" are not treated as "Blackwing" cards. Thus, you cannot use the effect of "Blackwing - Vayu the Emblem of Honor" to Special Summon "Black-Winged Dragon", and you cannot Synchro Summon "Black-Winged Dragon" by using "Blackwing - Breeze the Zephyr" as a Synchro Material.
