Card Rulings:Bottomless Shifting Sand
OCG Rulings
- The activation of the card "Bottomless Shifting Sand" can be performed at any time, except during the Damage Step.[1]
- The effect that destroys the face-up monster(s) with the highest ATK on the field starts a Chain Link. (It does not target. If you activate the card "Bottomless Shifting Sand" during your opponent's End Phase, you can also activate its effect in the same Chain Link as the card activation.)[1]
- This effect always activates if there is 1 or more face-up monsters in the Monster Zones during your opponent's End Phase. (It does not activate if there are no face-up monsters in the Monster Zones.)[1]
- The effect that destroys this card if you have 4 or less cards in your hand during your Standby Phase does not start a Chain Link. (If you have 4 or less cards in your hand during your Standby Phase, this effect is immediately applied, and this card is destroyed.)[1]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - If "Bottomless Shifting Sand" is active and "Tyrant Dragon" is the monster with the highest ATK, "Tyrant Dragon" is destroyed because "Bottomless Shifting Sand" does not target a monster.
