Card Rulings:Elemental HERO Flame Wingman
OCG Rulings
[Regarding "Must be Fusion Summoned"][1]
- It is not treated as an effect.
- As a general rule, this card can only be Special Summoned by a Fusion Summon. However, as long as it is with an effect that Special Summons by ignoring the Summoning conditions, this card can be Special Summoned if it is in the Extra Deck, if it was sent to the Graveyard after being Fusion Summoned, or if it was was banished face-up after being Fusion Summoned.
[Regarding the effect "When this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the GY: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster in the GY."][1]
- It is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone. (It activates mandatorily.)
- It activates at the end of the Damage Step in which this monster destroyed a monster by battle and sent it to the Graveyard.
- It does not activate if this card battles a monster with the same ATK and both monsters are destroyed.
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - The damage inflicted by the effect of "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" is based on the ATK of the destroyed monster in the Graveyard. So it's the original ATK of the monster.
- The effect of "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" is activated when the monster destroyed in battle by it is sent to the Graveyard.[2] You can chain to this effect.
- If your "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" destroys your monster that your opponent controlled, the effect is still activated and you inflict the Effect Damage to your opponent's Life Points.
- If your "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" destroys a "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" that was Summoned without Tribute, inflict 2800 damage to your opponent's Life Points.
Judge List Rulings
- If "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" destroys a monster by battle, but is destroyed before the monster is sent to the Graveyard (i.e., by battle or by Flip Effects), then his effect does not activate. If he is destroyed after the monster is sent to the Graveyard (i.e. by Ryu Kokki or Newdoria), then his effect has already activated, and will still inflict damage.[2]
