Q&A Rulings

A: When Special Summoning "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" from your Extra Deck, you must return 2 Level 5 or higher "Gladiator Beast" monsters on your field to the Deck. At this time, you can also choose face-down Defense Position Level 5 or higher "Gladiator Beast" monsters on your field. In this case, since "Gladiator Beast Octavius" and "Gladiator Beast Augustus" both satisfy those requirements, you can return them to the Deck to Special Summon "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor".[1]
A: When Special Summoning "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" from your Extra Deck, you must return 2 Level 5 or higher "Gladiator Beast" monsters on your field to the Deck. In this scenario, the original Level of "Gladiator Beast Laquari" is 4, but it has been increased to 5 by the effect of "Star Changer". Therefore, you can return it and "Gladiator Beast Noxious" to the Deck to Special Summon "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor".[2]
  • Q: During my Battle Phase, my "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" and "Gladiator Beast Noxious" both battled. During the End Step of this Battle Phase, can I activate the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from my Deck twice?
A: The effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from your Main Deck at the end of the Battle Phase is a Trigger Effect that can only be activated once during each End Step. Even if 2 or more of your "Gladiator Beast" monsters battled during the same Battle Phase, you cannot activate this effect twice.[3]
  • Q: "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" and "Gladiator Beast Andal" are both face-up on my field, but only "Gladiator Beast Andal" battled during the Battle Phase. During the Battle Step, if my opponent activates "Gladiator Taming" and takes control of "Gladiator Beast Andal", can I activate the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from my Deck during the End Step of this Battle Phase?
A: When activating the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from your Deck, you must return a "Gladiator Beast" monster that battled during this Battle Phase from your field to the Deck as the cost. In this scenario, since "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" itself did not battle, and your opponent took control of your "Gladiator Beast Andal" that battled, you cannot activate the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor".[4]
  • Q: While "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" and "Gladiator Beast Andal" are face-up on my field, "Gladiator Beast Andal" battles during the Battle Phase but is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard. During the End Step of this Battle Phase, can I activate the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from my Deck by returning "Gladiator Beast Andal" from my Graveyard to the Deck?

  • Q: "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" and a "Gladiator Beast Bestiari" owned by my opponent are both face-up on my field, but only "Gladiator Beast Bestiari" battled during the Battle Phase. During the End Step of this Battle Phase, can I activate the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from my Deck?
A: When activating the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor" that Special Summons a "Gladiator Beast" monster from your Deck, you must return a "Gladiator Beast" monster that battled during this Battle Phase from your field to the Deck as the cost. In this scenario, although your opponent is the owner of "Gladiator Beast Bestiari", it is still a "Gladiator Beast" monster on your field that battled during this Battle Phase, so you can activate the effect of "Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor". (In this case, the effect is activated by returning "Gladiator Beast Bestiari" to your opponent's Deck.)[6]
