Card Rulings:Grave of the Super Ancient Organism
TCG Rulings
- Even mandatory effects cannot activate while “Grave of the Super Ancient Organism” is active.[1]
- If you chain the activation of “Grave of the Super Ancient Organism” to the activation of a monster’s effect, that monster’s effect will still apply because it has already been activated. “Grave of the Super Ancient Organism” does not negate effects. It prevents both players from activating those effects.[1]
- Monsters that were Special Summoned before “Grave of the Super Ancient Organism” will still fall under its effect.[1]
- If a monster’s Level is lowered below 6, “Grave of the Super Ancient Organism” will no longer affect it.[1]
OCG Rulings
- If a Level 6 or higher monster is Special Summoned and then its Level is decreased to 5 or lower, then the monster is unaffected by "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism". The monster can activate its effect and can attack.[2]
- "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism" will also prevent the activation of mandatory effects, such as the Trigger Effect of "Chimeratech Overdragon" which sends all cards on your field to the Graveyard.[3]
- The effect of "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism" prevents the activation of effects; it does not negate effects once they are activated. If a Level 6 or higher monster which was Special Summoned activates an effect and "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism" is chained, the effect of the monster will not be negated. However, the monster cannot activate its effect again after the current Chain resolves.[4]
- "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism" also affects monsters that were on the field before "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism" was activated. Such monsters can neither attack nor activate effects.[5]
- If a Level 6 or higher monster is flipped face-down and then Flip Summoned, or if a Level 6 or higher monster is removed from play temporarily by an effect like "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", then the monster is still considered to have been Special Summoned. Thus, it will be affected by "Grave of the Super Ancient Organism", so it can neither activate its effects nor attack.[6]
