Card Rulings:Hammer Shot
OCG Rulings
- This card will destroy a monster you control if it has the highest ATK.[1]
- If two monsters are tied for the highest ATK, then the player who activated "Hammer Shot" chooses which is destroyed.[2]
- "Remote Revenge" cannot be used against "Hammer Shot", since "Hammer Shot" does not target.[3]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[4] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - "Hammer Shot" determines which monster to destroy using current ATK, not original ATK.
- "Hammer Shot" does not target. You determine which monster is destroyed when "Hammer Shot" resolves.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid: "Aurkus, Lightsworn Druid" will NOT stop ... "Hammer Shot", because these effects do not target.
- Lord of D.: "Lord of D." will NOT stop ... "Hammer Shot" ..., since these cards affect the whole field and do not select targets.
- Ready for Intercepting: If you chain "Ready for Intercepting" to "Hammer Shot" to flip a monster face-down, that monster will not be included in determining which monster is destroyed by the effect of "Hammer Shot".
