- Paying 1500 Life Points is the cost to activate this card.[1]
- Declare 1 monster Type and Attribute when activating this card. When this card's effect resolves, if there are any monsters with the declared Type and Attribute face-up in your opponent's Monster Zone, your opponent must choose 1 and send it to the Graveyard.[1]
- The effect that prevents your opponent from activating effects of monsters with the same name as the chosen monster is part of the same effect that makes your opponent send that monster to the Graveyard.[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: "Macro Cosmos" is face-up in my opponent's Spell & Trap Zone, and its effect that banishes any card that would be sent to the Graveyard is applying. In this situation, can I activate "Herald of the Abyss"?
- A: You can activate "Herald of the Abyss" even if the effect of "Macro Cosmos" is applying. The monster your opponent selects to send to the Graveyard is banished instead, but your opponent still cannot activate effects of monsters with that name for the rest of the turn.[2]
- Q: "Clock Wyvern" and a "Clock Token" are face-up on my field. In this situation, my opponent activates "Herald of the Abyss" and declares Cyberse and WIND. When choosing a monster to send to the Graveyard, can I choose the "Clock Token"?
- A: If you have a Token on your field among the monsters with the Type and Attribute your opponent declared when they activated "Herald of the Abyss", you can choose the Token as the monster you must send to the Graveyard. In that case, the Token disappears.[3]
