Card Rulings:Scanner
TCG Rulings
- “Scanner” targets 1 Banish|removed from play [sic] monster, but does not continue to target after the effect resolves.[1]
- If “Scanner” is removed from the field [sic] while it is not copying another monster (example: if it is destroyed during your opponent’s turn), it is not removed from play [sic].[1]
- If “Skill Drain” is activated after the effect of “Scanner” resolves, the effect of “Scanner” is still applied, and “Scanner” will still be removed from play [sic] if it leaves the field.[1]
- If the target of “Scanner” is no longer in the removed zone [sic] when the effect of “Scanner” resolves, then “Scanner” does not copy that monster, and “Scanner” will not be removed from play [sic] if it leaves the field.[1]
OCG Rulings
- After resolution, the effect does not continue to target the opponent's banished Monster.[2]
- If "Return from the Different Dimension" etc is chained to "Scanner" so that the targeted monster is no longer banished when the effect of "Scanner" resolves, then "Scanner" resolves without effect. "Scanner" does not gain the ATK/DEF/Name/etc of the monster, and it is not banished when it leaves the field.[3]
