Card Rulings:Searchlightman
OCG Rulings
- This is a Trigger Effect that is activated when this card is flipped face-up.[1]
- This effect does not target.[1]
- This effect is also activated during the Damage Step.[1]
- If you cannot Set because of "Dark Simorgh" or "Searchlightman", then you can still activate "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow", as long as it was Set beforehand. When resolving the effect, the attack will be negated, but "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow" will be sent to the Graveyard since it cannot be Set.[2]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - If "Searchlightman's" Flip Effect is activated, and then later "Cyber Jar's" Flip Effect is activated, all appropriate monsters picked-up by your opponent will have to be Special Summoned in face-up Attack Position.
- After "Searchlightman's" effect has resolved, your opponent could not Normal Summon "Mystic Swordsman LV4" or LV6 because they have to be Normal Summoned in face-down Defense Position, which is considered a Set.
- If your opponent attacks your face-down Defense Position "Searchlightman" with "Inferno Hammer", the Flip Effect will resolve before it is sent to the Graveyard, so the effect of "Inferno Hammer" cannot activate.
