Card Rulings:Spirit Elimination
OCG Rulings
- This card's effect is applied when a monster(s) in the Graveyard are banished after this card was activated in the Main Phase.[1]
- If the effect of "Hundred Eyes Dragon" is activated during a turn in which "Spirit Elimination" is applying, as a substitute for banishing a monster from your Graveyard for the activation cost, you banish 1 Level 6 or lower DARK monster you control.[2]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - During the turn that "Spirit Elimination" is activated; all monsters removed from play must be from your side of the field. This means that you cannot activated "Soul Release" and remove two monsters from your side of the field and three from your Graveyard.
- Any conditions set on the Monster Cards that would be removed from the Graveyard must still be fulfilled on the Monsters removed from your side of the field. For example, to Special Summon "Dark Necrofear" you must remove 3 Fiend-Type Monsters from your side of the field.
- You can activate "Spirit Elimination" while "Necrovalley" is active.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Big Burn: When "Spirit Elimination" is activated and "Big Burn" is chained, the player who activated "Spirit Elimination" removes all monsters on his side of the field. The other player removes all monsters in the Graveyard as usual.
