OCG Rulings

  • This card's effect that moves it to another Main Monster Zone and Special Summons an "Squid Ink Token" is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target.)[1]
  • This effect can be activated not only when this card is targeted for an attack when an opponent's monster initially declares an attack, but also when a replay occurs and this card is selected as a new attack target.[1]
  • Moving this card to another Main Monster Zone and Special Summoning an "Squid Ink Token" do not happen simultaneously. (Special Summoning the "Squid Ink Token" is the last thing to happen.)[1]
  • This card's effect that prevents it from being targeted for an attack while in the leftmost or rightmost Main Monster Zones is a Continuous Effect.[1]

Q&A Rulings

A: Even if the opponent's monster's attack is negated before the effect of "Squirt Squid" resolves, the effect is applied normally. In this scenario, the "Squid Ink Token"'s ATK will be the same as the ATK of the opponent's "Deepsea Shark" (1900 ATK).[2]
A: In this scenario, if the attacking monster is no longer on the field when resolving the effect of "Squirt Squid", both parts of the effect are applied, but the "Squid Ink Token"'s ATK will be 0.[3]
  • Q: My "Squirt Squid" is face-up in either my leftmost or rightmost Main Monster Zone. In this situation, if a "Paladin of Felgrand" is equipped with an Equip Card and unaffected by other monsters' effects, can it target "Squirt Squid" for its attack?
A: In this scenario, "Paladin of Felgrand" is unaffected by the effect of "Squirt Squid" that prevents monsters from targeting it for an attack, so it can choose "Squirt Squid" as its attack target.[4]
