OCG Rulings

  • This card's effect is a Trigger Effect that can be activated in the Monster Zone.[1]
  • At resolution, apply "Special Summon 1 monster from your hand in Defense Position, to your opponent's zone this card points to (but negate its effects)". Then, if you Special Summoned successfully, you can apply "Special Summon 1 monster from your Deck in Defense Position, with the same Type as that monster (but negate its effects)". Also, if you Special Summoned from the Deck successfully, apply "you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn, except monsters with the same original Type as the monster Summoned from the Deck".[1]
  • Special Summoning from your hand and Special Summoning from your Deck do not happen at the same time.[1]
  • At resolution, if this card does not point to an opponent's Main Monster Zone that can be used, the effect resolution is not applied.[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: The effect of a "DNA Surgery" that was activated by declaring Dragon-Type is being applied. In this situation, I activated the effect of "Summon Sorceress" and Special Summoned a Spellcaster monster from my hand to my opponent's field. In this case, the Special Summoned Spellcaster monster immediately becomes Dragon-Type, but what Monster Type can I Special Summon from the Deck with the effect of "Summon Sorceress"?
A: You can Special Summon a Dragon monster from your Deck. After Special Summoning a monster from your hand by the effect of "Summon Sorceress", Special Summon a monster from your Deck by referring to the Summoned monster's Type on the field.[2]
