OCG Rulings

  • The effect of this card that negates the activation of a card/effect that would destroy a card on the field is a Quick Effect (Banishing a Zombie-Type monster from your Graveyard is the cost to activate this effect. It can be activated during the Damage Step.)[1]
  • This effect does not target. It must be activated by chaining directly to a card/effect that would destroy a card on the field.[1]
  • The effect of this card that makes your opponent’s monsters lose 500 ATK/DEF is a Trigger Effect. (It activates whenever this card is Tributed for a Ritual Summon or banished for a Ritual Summon.)[1]
  • This effect is applied to all face-up monsters on your opponent’s field at the time the effect resolves.[1]
  • This effect is applied to those monsters for as long as they remain face-up on the field.[1]

Q&A Rulings

A: In this scenario, a monster sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by the effect of "Revendread Evolution" is not treated as being Tributed, so the effect of the sent "Vendread Chimera" will not activate.[2]
  • Q: "Macro Cosmos" is face-up in my opponent’s Spell & Trap Zone, and its effect that banishes any card that would be sent to the Graveyard is applying. In this situation, I activate "Revendread Evolution", and Ritual Summon a "Vendread Chimera" by sending another copy of "Vendread Chimera" from my Deck to the Graveyard. In this case, will the effect of the "Vendread Chimera" that was banished from the Deck instead of being sent to the Graveyard activate?
A: In this scenario, if a "Vendread Chimera" that would be sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by the effect of "Revendread Evolution" is banished instead due to the effect of "Macro Cosmos", it is not treated as being banished for a Ritual Summon, so the effect of that banished "Vendread Chimera" will not activate.[3]
