Card Rulings talk:Savage Colosseum

I think I found a contradiction.

In this card's ruling it says: After an attack has been declared, if the attack is stopped but not negated by an effect like "Gravity Bind", then the monster is still considered to have declared an attack, so the monster is not destroyed during the End Phase by "Savage Colosseum". However, if the monster's attack is negated by an effect like "Negate Attack", then the monster is not considered to have declared an attack, so the monster is destroyed during the End Phase.

However, in a ruling of Anteatereatingant's, it says:If you attack with "Anteatereatingant" and the attack is negated with "Negate Attack", or a replay happens and you decide not to attack again, "Anteatereatingant" is still considered to have declared an attack. So you cannot activate its effect during Main Phase 2. PoirotH 08:39, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

Not really. Using unofficial terminology, "Savage Colosseum" must "see" the monster declare an attack. If the attack is negated, then "Savage Colosseum" doesn't "see" anything, so the monster is destroyed.
For "Anteatereatingant", "Anteatereatingant" still declared an attack, even if the attack was negated. It's similar to how "Anteatereatingant" cannot change its Battle Position in Main Phase 2, or how it can't attack a second time. The activation requirement of "Anteatereatingant" looks at this much more basic quality.

I see. So it's a matter of perspective from each card's point of view. Thanks for clearing that up.PoirotH 18:32, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, "Des Lacooda" must attack you directly (assuming that "Des Lacooda" is in face-up ATK Mode).

Defense Position[edit]

Does Savage Colosseum's effect that forces monsters to attack apply to all monsters, or does it skip the ones in Defense Position? RedDrgn 02:43, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

No, they don't attack. "Savage Colosseum" only forces monsters to attack if they are able, and monsters in DEF Mode can't attack.
