Card Tips:Inferno Tempest
- This card can be searched by "Spell Calling", "Quick Booster", "Miracle of the Supreme King", "Mecha Phantom Beast Jaculuslan", and other generic searchers.
- In order to activate this card, the opponent can given a strong monster with 3000+ ATK or DEF. While monsters such as "Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju", "Lava Golem", and "Thunder King, the Lightningstrike Kaiju" can Special Summon themselves directly to the opponent's field, card effects such as "Creature Swap", "Geonator Transverser", "Give and Take", and "Mystic Box" can also be used.
- Afterwards, a follow-up with "Owner's Seal" or "Remove Brainwashing" can be especially devastating.
- "Shien's Spy" can be especially useful, as the monster will return to its owner's control during the End Phase.
- A well-timed "Nibiru, the Primal Being" can not only get rid of your opponent's board and mid-combo, but also produce a large enough Token that you can then ram into with Nibiru itself to satisfy this card's activation condition.
- Card effects such as "Absolute End" or "Astral Barrier" can be used to surprise the opponent into meeting this card's activation condition.
- Good monsters to banish with this card's effect include:
- "D.D. Patrol Plane", "D.D. Scout Plane", and "Giant Rex": All of these monsters are capable of Special Summong themselves if banished.
- If any of these monsters are used, supplementary cards such as "Dimensional Fissure" or "Macro Cosmos" can be useful for enabling their continued self-revivals, if destroyed, which can helpful for stalling.
- "Giant Rex" can be especially useful in a Dinosaur-Type Deck, gaining an enormous amount of ATK, possibly with "Tyranno Infinity" taking advantage of the banished monsters as well.
- "Metaphys": During the next Standby Phase, most of their monsters' effects can be triggered, with advantageous effects.
- "Necroface": When banished, its effect banishes the top 5 cards of each player's Deck. Combined with multiple copies, and the fact that Decks usually contain a large number of monsters (thus having this effect only banish Spells/Traps as a result), this can contribute to a victory by Deck out.
- "Shiranui Spiritmaster": Since the opponent will control a monster with at least 3000 ATK (in order to activate this card), banishing this monster will trigger its effect to potentially destroy that monster.
- "Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan": When banished, its effect can return a banished monster to the Deck, which can be any useful monster, but especially "Necroface" in order to banish another 5 cards from the players' Decks (as the effect of "Nyannyan" would be Chained to the effect of "Necroface").
- "D.D. Patrol Plane", "D.D. Scout Plane", and "Giant Rex": All of these monsters are capable of Special Summong themselves if banished.
- "Cyber Valley" can be very versatile with this card: as a 0-ATK monster, it can be a proactive option to attack an opponent's monster with 3000+ ATK to activate this card, while its effects can provide a defensive option or a card-advantage option.
- To similar extents, monsters such as "Battle Fader", "Effect Veiler", and "Swift Scarecrow" can also be useful.
- "Hippo Carnival" can also produce 0-ATK Tokens without needing to use your Normal Summon. You decide which position each Token is Summoned in, so it can be used to generate emergency defenses.
- "Soul Absorption" can work incredibly well with this card - since Decks usually contain a large number of monsters, this equals a large amount of LP gained.
- Similarly, "Chaos Zone" can work very well, amassing enough Chaos Counters to Special Summon multiple monsters over the next several turns.
- Good monsters to already have in the player's hand or on the field include:
- "Helios - The Primordial Sun", "Helios Duo Megistus", and "Helios Trice Megistus", as they gain ATK based on the number of both players' banished monsters. However, the latter 2 tend to be more useful, as they gain more ATK and can also Special Summon themselves if destroyed by battle (especially earlier in the Duel).
- The lower-Leveled "Nemeses" monsters, as their effects can be used to recover the player's banished monsters.
- "Gigarays Gandora the Dragon of Destruction", "Golden Homunculus", and "Gren Maju Da Eiza", as all of them gain ATK based on the number of banished cards.
- After resolving this card's effect successfully, using the following cards' effects can be especially devastating:
- Certain cards can inflict damage based on the number of banished monsters, such as "D.D. Dynamite", "Graverobber's Retribution", and "Submersible Carrier Aero Shark".
- Nondiscerning discarding effects such as "Card Destruction" and "Morphing Jar" can help eliminate any remaining monsters in the opponent's hand, while contributing towards a potential victory by Deck out.
- "Virus" Trap Cards can eliminate the remaining monsters in the opponent's hand and under their control, such as "Crush Card Virus", "Full Force Virus", and "Grinning Grave Virus".
- If the errata'd version of "Crush Card Virus" is used, the downside of the opponent choosing which of their monsters to destroy is avoided, since there are no remaining monsters in their Deck.
- Alternatively, "Eradicator Epidemic Virus" can help eliminate any remaining options the opponent may have for recovery, by destroying the opponent's Spell or Trap Cards.
- With no monsters remaining in the Deck as a result of "Inferno Tempest", the effect of "Morphing Jar #2" has the potentially to drastically shave both players' remaining Deck sizes, depending on each player's number of remaining monsters on the field, as well as luck.
- Card such as "Parallel World Fusion", "Psychic Feel Zone", or "Myutant Cry" can take advantage of the banished monsters to Special Summon a monster from the Extra Deck.
- Similarly, cards such as "D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation", "Premature Return", and "Storm Dragon's Return" can be used to Special Summon a key monster that is banished.
- "Chaos End" can be used to destroy all monsters on the field, leaving any remaining monsters in the players' hands.
- The effects of "Battlin' Boxer Veil", "Enchanted Javelin", "Mahaama the Fairy Dragon", or "Nutrient Z" can be used to offset the inflicted battle damage required to activate this card.
- Alternatively (or in combination), "Damage Condenser" can be used to Special Summon a key monster from the Deck to the field, before "Inferno Tempest" woud banish it from the Deck.
- This card can work well in a Trap Monster-based Deck, which includes "Paleozoic" Decks, as they have very few Monster Cards to banish from their Decks.
Traditional Format[edit]
- Card such as "Dimension Fusion" and "Return from the Different Dimension" can be especially devastating after using this card successfully.
- The effect of "Cyber Jar" can helpful for destroying any lingering monsters on the field, as well as contributing towards a victory by Deck out.
- This card can be easily activated via "Grinder Golem", since Special Summoning that monster (and its corresponding "Grinder Tokens") provides an instant way of taking 3000 battle damage.
