- A manticore is a mythological creature from Greek mythology. It had the body of a lion, the wings of a bat, and a roughly human face; sometimes it was depicted with the tail of a scorpion. It enjoyed meat, and it hunted by launching spikes from its tail and body. A mosaic is a type of artwork created by placing many small pieces of different colored stones together in order to create a pattern or picture.
- In the manga, this card is a Fusion Monster. Its design is a combination of its Fusion Material Monsters in the manga: a bat, a lion, and a scorpion.
- Its effect is also based off that of its manga incarnation.
