A friend and I were considering getting back into playing Yu-Gi-Oh, for something to do between classes. I still have my old deck around, but we need to get her a new one. All we can find is this new 5D's thing, are the two compatible? Or are they completely different game systems?

You can still use old cards with the new ones. The only thing that has changed is that there are a few more new types of monsters (Synchro Monsters, Tuner Monsters, and Psychics). --Blue (Talk) 19:10, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
