Forum:A Great Timed move with a old school card

With the rampaging of the lightsworn decks i found a crazy move to do a double mill on player your dueling against Pyro Clock of Destiny. Its a pharoah servant card that forwards a turn the time of the activation. So if u have an opponenet who mills let's say six cards, you can activate pyro and now he mills 6 more cards. But put in mind that duel monsters has a yin/yang theory involved. It may lower your opponents deck but at the same time it's giving the player the advantage to summon Judgment Dragon so you will have to be careful in your timing i would suggest playing pyro in a side deck in a macro-deck or have 3-Soul Releasein the deck to prevent jugment from happening. From time to time I will be giving a a few pointers on old school cards that u can use if you don't have a few or none of the stapel cards in your collection. OLD SCHOOL CARDS next item i write it will be on Soul Release

  • Actually, Pyro Clock of Destiny only increases the turn count. It does not affect End Phase effects, such as the milling of Lightsworn monsters, since it does not repeat any of that turn's Phases. Please check the Rulings of the cards before actually posting. The only card affected by Pyro Clock of Destiny is, to my knowledge, Final Countdown, because it counts turns. --Darth Covah 15:54, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

humph!

well talking to a level 1 judge in a regional competition i asked the question and you can time the end phase of a lightsworn monter/s and it's their end phase again and so their effect does activate again(there are no conditions for the lightsworn to be nothing but on the field at the end phase for the effect to work)

  • The judge in question needs to get his facts straight or his status revoked. Check Pyro Clock of Destiny's Rulings and see for yourself. Since the only thing that changes is the turn count (i.e. if it was Turn 3, it now is Turn 4). Traps set before the Clock's activation cannot be activated still, since a Turn has not yet passed. End Phase effects, if they have been activated, do not reactivate, as the End Phase is not repeated. Cards that count Standby Phases are not affected, since the Standby Phases are not repeated. Lightsworns won't mill again if they already have. I'm sorry, but the combo you present is illegal. And I'd appreciate it if you took your tone down a little, I'm trying to help. --Darth Covah 16:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

My tone is at a normal level "capiche" and it's not the same turn it's the next turn. If it was the same turn yes it would be illegal, but it's not it is the NEXT turn so the process changes. And why are you challenging this DO YOU RUN A LIGHTSWORN DECK SO GOOD U DON"T WANT TO LOSE>Inygmazen 16:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Watch your tone. No, I'm not running Lightsworns. I'm someone who cares to back what he's saying up with proof. Want some? Go here. If you still disagree, respectfully, I couldn't care less. I'll not make this a matter of debate. Pyro Clock of Destiny will not force Lightsworn monsters to mill again. Instead of trying to find an exploit to beat Lightsworns, you could actually read their Rulings and learn their weaknesses, instead of twisting the effect of a card to an illegal end. --Darth Covah 17:26, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

then we have been talking to 2 diffrent judges with 2 points of viewon hte rulings i just hope i dont duel u in the future. i'll go by the ruling in which i heard and read nice argument — This unsigned comment was made by Inygmazen (talkcontribs) 17:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

I think Darth Covah is right. The "Lightsworn" monsters say During each of your End Phases. The "Pyro Clock of Destiny" rulings say it won't affect "Wave Motion Cannon" or "Furture Fusion", because they count Standby Phases, not turns. For "Lightsworn" monsters it's the same case, but it End Phases instead of Standby Phases. Considering "Pyro Clock of Destiny" only affects turn counts, why should it affect End Phases when it doesn't affect Standby Phases? -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:39, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Sorry INYGMAZEN but is just like Darth Covah said. Your combo will not work. Better listen to guys like Darth Covah or Deus Ex Machina because they know the rulings very well and almost never made mistakes. ATEMVEGETA 18:40, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Cheers ATEMVEGETA! Although I also believe you should give yourself some credit. Deltaneos knows the rulings pretty well too. Thanks for the support guys. --Darth Covah 21:48, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
