Forum:A new suggestion for the rules

I didn't know where to but this, but anyway, this is like my fantasy list of rules, you can add your own if you want.

I don't know about you guys, but I am sick of getting bad hands with certain decks and I dislike how random the game can get. So I was thinking of a new rule, what if you always had ONE card in your hand your first draw, like for my Dragon deck I would have Lord Of D in my hand first turn but at the same time still have the 6 cards.

They could make rules on this like: -Your one card cannot be limited or semi-limited (to prevent any First Turn Cyber-dragon synchro) -You must show your opponent the card then place it on top of your deck face up

Another rule is if you got a bad hand or something, you can put your hand at the bottom of the deck and draw 6 more -You lose that ONE card (lets just call it your back-up card) -Your opponent can do the same thing -The Bleach CG has the same rule and its not that bad.

i personally dont think it would be a good idea. Some players might do that for few times to get a OTK hand by using few of the cards, or even worse, if u keep doing it u would limit yourself to one card only, which is kind of bad. Besides, they have the same rules in MTG anyways, so i dont think it would be good. Negeld 22:12, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

The part where you can put your hand at the bottom of your deck? I forgot to say that you can only do that once.

Other card games do this for bad hands.

Here is something that another card game does for bad hands. In that game you draw 7 (If you go second only, if you go first you dont draw). but at the start of the game both players can CHOOSE to take a Mulligan. meaning they put their hand back in the deck re shuffle and draw again. In friendly matches theres no penalty for the first or second try but in tournaments there is a penalty. if you choose to mulligan you draw one card less than what was in your hand before you mulliganed. for example 6 -> 5 5-> 4 and so on.

But as for yugioh rules on bad hands I am fine with the way it is, the better your deck is built the less bad hands you should get or at least thats how its supposed to be. --Takuma. 04:42, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

^agreed. I've seen powerful decks get hand-jammed almost every time, which just means it's a bad deck. You can't have your cake and eat it too. I think that new rules to prevent hand jamming is just a way to let people who load their deck with high-level monsters off the hook. I don't think any official rules are necessary, but I don't mind when casual duelists agree to their own rule variations. One of the most common in my hometown is that if a duelist draws a hand of all spells/traps or all monsters, then can shuffle and redraw.

- yeah, it does seem like a good a idea, especially for theme decks; but i do agree that a good deck prevents bad draws and (in most cases) with 8000 life points, i dont think that duel's gonna be over anytime soon.

but what i really liked about the Noah arc (in between battle city) on the anime was the deck master rule, similar to what you're suggesting, wherein the deck master presides over the duel, considered out of play, and if you call him in (should it get destroyed), you lose the duel.-The three egyptian gods 17:32, 23 February 2009 (UTC)http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:A_new_suggestion_for_the_rules?action=edit#

Also, Gil Garth's description makes so sense. The sword hes using has ABSOLUTELY no resembelance to ANY japanese weapon EVER.

-The game being referenced above would be Magic the Gathering [1], which is much older (1993) and has done a lot to make it's game balanced-ish and fair (I frequently compare the poor rules of YGO to MtG, since I play both extensively, if casually). And I have to say, I've wanted Mulligan to be added for a long time. Sure, there's that argument that a deck worth using should have a proper opening hand 99.9% of the time... but that's only in the case of obsessively competitive play (yes, that's what I consider it) where virtually no deck is built with the idea of "fun". For casual games, where 60 card decks are much more common (and less likely to max out copies of every power card that can fit), it's far more likely to have a poor hand, so a MtG mulligan would be quite useful. I would go the whole way, though, and have it be that every mulligan has a -1 penalty (down to the minimum of one card) to the starting hand size. In YGO, this would be noticeably more of a loss than in MtG, due to the much smaller starting hand size (5 vs. 7), meaning you would only do it if you really needed to anyways (or if you're a jerk and insist on having "that one card" in your starting hand no matter what). Just my two pence on the idea, which I love! I should really just start doing this with my buds, since I have zero interest in the annoying competitive play environment...
