Forum:Abusive Puppetry

Puppet Master is a phenomenal card. I mean, if Overdrive Teleporter can be considered good, then Puppet Master should be considered a whole lot better - it has no stupid level restrictions and thus has a far better range of summonable monsters. If you've watched the Battle City arc of Yugioh, you'll see that Bakura used it once to generate tributes for Ra. Poor Bakura - he never got to really exploit this card's potential. That doesn't mean I won't, though!

The main point of this deck is to keep special summoning Fiend monsters from your graveyard with Puppet Master and abuse the crap out of them. There's a lot of fun things you can do like that – mostly Synchro Summons.

For monsters, there's 3 Puppet Masters, obviously, and 3 Giant Germs as tribute fodder. Goblin King is a great beatstick when used correctly. Dark Tinker, Sinister Sprocket and Dark Resonator give me an incredible range of monsters I can Synchro Summon. Sangan is an obvious choice, both searching out Puppet Master (among other things) and having the ability to be special summoned by it. Armageddon Knight and Dark Grepher dump monsters into the graveyard. Raviel is an easy way to bring the pain to my opponent, with its 4000 ATK and token summoning. Nimble Momonga also generates tribute bait as well as recovering life points, which is important because of the high cost of Puppet Master. Finally, Great Maju Garzett is a super-powered monster if I tribute the right thing to summon it.

For spells, there's Allure of Darkness and Magical Mallet as draw spells. Foolish Burial sends cards from the deck to the graveyard to be summoned by Puppet Master. Monster Reborn and Mystical Space Typhoon are some good staples. Dark Eruption retrieves most of this deck from the graveyard, including Puppet Master, all the Tuners, Giant Germ, Armageddon Knight, and Sangan. Finally, Card of Safe Return gives me an extra draw for those special summoned Fiends.

For traps, I've got Dark Illusion and Dark Bribe as negations – I'd have put in Solemn Judgment, but that card doesn't belong anywhere near Puppet Master, the same way it doesn't belong anywhere near Cyber-Stein in traditional decks. Finally, Threatening Roar prevents my opponent from attacking me if I don't want them to.

The Synchros are the really fun monsters. I've only got 2 monsters in twos; Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend. The rest I just have 1 of. There's Dark Strike Fighter for burn; Field Marshall for attack power; Mist Wurm for removal; Black Rose Dragon for field wipe; Goyo Guardian for power; Wayne to summon a Grepher or a Knight; Ancient Fairy Dragon just in case I happen to be playing against Earthbound Immortals or Legendary Ocean, or some such; Colossal Fighter for huge ATK; and finally, Decisive Arms for Lightsworns. I don't know what it does yet, but it has to be good. Plus, I can tribute it for a 6600 ATK Garzett.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck. Runer5h 20:51, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Oh, I see what you're doing here. Interesting idea you've got, making use of Jack's underlooked Tuners. Plus, they come in all the adequate low levels to work with Puppet Master's high level. Why not something like Fiend's Sanctuary to provide an emergency Tribute bait for the puppeteer? --Gadjiltron 09:21, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Maybe. As it happens, I can pull off any level of Synchro in the game with Puppet Master, from 2 to 12. Look:
  • 2 - Goblin King+Sinister Sprocket
  • 3 - Goblin King+Dark Tinker or Giant Germ+Sinister Sprocket
  • 4 - Goblin King+Dark Resonator or Giant Germ+Dark Tinker or even Sangan+Sinister Sprocket
  • 5 - Giant Germ+Dark Resonator or Sangan+Dark Tinker
  • 6 - Sangan+Dark Resonator
  • 7 - Puppet Master+Sinister Sprocket
  • 8 - Puppet Master+Goblin King+Sinister Sprocket or Puppet Master+Dark Tinker
  • 9 - Puppet Master+Goblin King+Dark Tinker or Puppet Master+Giant Germ+Sinister Sprocket or even Puppet Master+Dark Resonator
  • 10 - Puppet Master+Goblin King+Dark Resonator or Puppet Master+Giant Germ+Dark Tinker or even Puppet Master+Sangan+Sinister Sprocket
  • 11 - Puppet Master+Giant Germ+Dark Resonator or Puppet Master+Sangan+Dark Tinker
  • 12 - Puppet Master+Sangan+Dark Resonator

How awesome is that? I guess Fiend's Sanctuary would be a good idea, but what should I take out for it? Runer5h 19:32, 8 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

my advice first of all great deck idea. but you are missing most limited cards that are usefull. also i would put in Caius the Shadow Monarch take out dark grepher(you discard too many cards for him.) also cards that give you back life points are a must in this kind of deck. Draining Shield gives you LP and protection.

Well, I do have Nimble Momonga to give me back life points. But I'll take your word for it that Dark Grepher is too many discards for this deck, and replace him with another Armageddon Knight. That brings me to 43 cards. Now, as a rule, I try not to go above 43 unless it's absolutely necessary, so I think that Caius won't really fit here. Runer5h 20:01, 10 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

You may want to take something out to replace for Magical Mallet. In fact, if you took out all three Magical Mallet's you would have a 40 card deck. Aside from that point you want to exclude the Magical Mallet, because it drains your hand size. Never consider your hand useless. If you ever have a useless hand then that means the deck in general needs work. If you have a Foolish Burial or Gold Sarcophagus or any other cards that have you search out your deck for a specific card, then you may be on to something, but to include Magical Mallet is such a gamble.

--Overlordzorc 22:01, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Call me lucky, but Magical Mallet mostly always comes through for me. Its effect of getting rid of what I don't need that's in my hand is great. But what would you suggest for a replacement? Runer5h 22:53, 11 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
  • Runer, Like your Eraser to Dark Ruler OTK Deck, I really don't see how can I help here! The Deck looks off the Chain! Great Work! I really wish I could Duel this Deck but I prefer not to take on Challenges over the Net...

Thanks! I've proxied this deck, and it gets out a Synchro of my choice usually by the second/third turn. I even just had a Colossal Fighter on the field, and tributed it for Great Maju Garzett - my opponent just scooped. It was a little pathetic, but awesome. Runer5h 21:34, 15 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

EDIT: I'm removing Raviel. It's an almighty pain-in-the-@$$ to bring out, and is generally less useful than my choice of synchro. Runer5h 01:53, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Well, I just got owned.

I sent this deck up against BioMasterZap's Monarchs and Lightsworns. He murdered the deck in monarchs when he used Vanity's Fiend. It just went poof! - and was gone. Against Lightsworns, I got him down to 2 cards in the deck but only about 6500 life points. And that was with Giant Germ. So, this deck needs help, and I'm thinking that Monster Removal is first and foremost. So, I'm putting in Smashing Ground and Soul Taker, and also Mirror Force. In exchange, goodbye Garzett (the only use I've found for it was in trying to attack over a Vanity's Fiend; that didn't work because he Bottomless'd it) and Card of Safe Return (with only one copy, I can't get it consistently enough to be useful). For the extra deck, I'm using Thought Ruler Archfiend and Magical Android, removing Decisive Arms and a RDA. (I tried to use it, but got owned by Honest.) Also, I'm taking out a Magical Mallet.

So the deck looks like this now:

Any more help? And thanks, Bio, for pointing out the flaws in the deck. Runer5h 02:58, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

  • Since the base monsters are all low in ATK or DEF, I would suggest Waboku. Rainbow Life could also help. Messengerofthedark 03:05, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Messengerofthedark
Okay. What should I take out for two Waboku? Runer5h 03:07, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Actually, I already know. I'm removing both Dark Illusions for another Dark Bribe, and one Goblin King (screw the Goblin King lock) for two Waboku. Runer5h 03:08, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
If you want a lock, Broken Blocker + Dupe Frog works well. What was the main problem with why you lost?Messengerofthedark 03:11, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Messengerofthedark

The first time, he got out a quick Vanity's Fiend and that was basically it. The second time, he out-swarmed me (had 5 monsters on the field; Goyo, 2 Lumina, Wulf, and Aurkus) and I was down to top-decking after a misplay with Red Dragon Archfiend. Look on the duel terminal forum; you can see the second duel there. I hope we did well enough with grammar/spelling. Runer5h 03:15, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Second Change

I've rethought the deck a bit more, and this is what I've came up with; it has a lot more tech cards to work with what I've already got. One of the big additions, something that I can hardly believe I didn't think of before, is Crush Card Virus. I've got Giant Germ, Puppet Master, Sinister Sprocket, Dark Tinker, Sangan, and Fiend's Sanctuary as tributable targets for the virus. Another huge addition that I should have remembered? Tragoedia - it can modulate its own level to fit my needs, and permanently steal my opponent's monsters.

Any more ideas? Runer5h 01:04, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

After Testing: Side Deck Ideas?

The deck works fairly well, but there are issues. First of all, the deck shrivels up and dies without access to a tuner. Does that mean I need more, or what?

Second - you probably guessed it - Macro Cosmos obliterates this deck. Not even funny how badly I do. So, here's some potential side deck ideas:

And that's all I can think of for now. Runer5h 02:01, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Hello? Runer5h 21:25, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
Light-Imprisoning Mirror is good; not so much Imperial Iron Wall. That shuts down Allure of Darkness and Karma Cut. Runer5h 17:14, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
That's why you side it, in case you run into a Macro deck. Then your prepared. You would only have 3 cards that would have little effect, you may be able to use them before the Wall goes up, like in a chain. Messengerofthedark 17:18, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, Dimensional Prison has an advantage; if a monster in my graveyard is removed from play, I get to special summon it. I think I'll do without Wall to avoid potential conflicts. Runer5h 17:25, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Side deck card

Mirror of Oaths. Three of them. The punch Rescue Synchro and Glad. Beast in the face, and work against many other decks that are heavy on searchers. Also, just maybe a Barrier Statue of the Abyss. If I remember, it is a fiend, and is also lvl 4, so it can be synchroed reasonably easy, inso things such as Red Dragon Archfiend and Dark Strike Fighter, while many other decks are left almost special summonless.

(Also, when you get the time, would you mind giving a few tips on the deck I posted? --Akiza'sRose66 18:02, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Okay, if you can post a link. I've still got 3 side-deck slots to fill up. Runer5h 18:14, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Side deck idea..

If Macro obliterates you, then I would throw in more S/T removal, just in case, so that Macro and Dimensional Fissure don't stay out for long. Maybe a couple Twisters or Dust Tornados. Heck, maybe even a Return from the Different Dimension, you like to pay LP with the deck anyway. Oh, and here's a linky to my deck: http://yugioh.wikia.com/index.php?title=Forum:Garden_of_Eden_needs_a_little_tending&t=20090727021037 (Not sure how to post hyperlinky, sorry.--Akiza'sRose66 18:30, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

I think Dimensional Inversion should be enough Anti-Macro. Runer5h 23:27, 27 July 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Another way to really abuse it is to pay a bunch of Life Points and then use dark tinker to order your cards, play reversal quiz, swap Life points for fun.
