Forum:Anime and manga forum?

Why don't we have one? Sometimes topics get posted in that vein in the General Discussion section. Why not have its own section? It's the origin of the franchise as a whole. It just seems odd not to have one. Cheesedude (talk • contribs) 03:23, December 5, 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I think it's probably about time our current array of forums had a closer look, as well. In particular, I've long felt that the word "Yu-Gi-Oh!" is wholly unnecessary in the names, only serving to make linking that much harder. I'm also wondering if we might as well just merge the Help desk and Wiki Community Discussion forums; the difference between the two isn't really terribly clear (I'm currently in favor of merging Community Discussion into Help desk, but could potentially be persuaded otherwise ;) ). (Needless to say, I also support the proposal; I just figured if we're gonna make an addition, we might as well also take the opportunity to review the status quo and make any desired changes at the same time.) 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 05:36, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with you on "Yu-Gi-Oh!" in the names. As for the merge, I think both are distinct topics. "Help" (to me, at least), would be where one would go for general help with the wiki. "Community Discussion" is where...the community discusses major changes. They could be in the same forum, but I don't think either name would be a good one for the combined forum. What if we divided the forum into two sections, "Yu-Gi-Oh! discussion" and "Wiki discussion", had subsections for each, a global list for each of the two main sections and individual lists for each of the subsections? General discussion, ruling queries, Deck help, Duel Terminal, lists discussion, Deck competition and anime/manga discussion would all go in Yu-Gi-Oh! discussion. Community discussion and help desk would go in "wiki discussion". It might be worth adding more sections to "wiki discussion" and maybe moving the requests for adminship there. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:19, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

That sounds interesting, though I'm not sure just how it would work from a technical perspective (but that's the implementer's (my =D ) problem, and isn't really an objection ;) ). What additional sections are you thinking we could add to "wiki discussion"?

While we're spitballing, I've been thinking for a long time about having a "Card discussion" forum which would have one forum discussion page per card, to allow general discussion on individual cards. These pages could then be linked from individual card pages (and their talk pages; I've been imagining it as an additional link, something like "Card Discussion", in the "Card Information Pages" links) to provide outlets for people who want to comment on a specific card but aren't sure where to go. This could actually be extended to just about any page on the wiki, actually (and yeah, I realize this sounds a lot like Article Comments, but this has certain pros that Article Comments doesn't (and vice versa, of course; I can elaborate in a separate section upon request)). 「ディノ奴千？！」^{? · ☎ Dinoguy1000} 20:58, December 7, 2011 (UTC)

Update now, reorganize later?

Considering reorganising the forum's hierarchy is a different issue that we're not in a hurry to implement, should go ahead and create the anime and manga forum without doing the extra reorganising? While moving them should we change the capitalisation e.g. "Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck Help" → "Deck help"? Coincidentally, he three without "Yu-Gi-Oh!" in their names are the three whose capitalisation I agree with. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:38, January 4, 2012 (UTC)

I think "Lists Discussion" is too vague and should be changed to "Limited and Forbidden lists discussion". I am more used to the order being "Forbidden and Limited", but Konami seem to put Limited first these days. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:43, January 5, 2012 (UTC)

A bit lengthy, but there really isn't any way to shorten it without ending up with a vague name again. =/ Thinking about it a bit, though, is "discussion" even really necessary? It seems to me like it'd be implied by the word "Forum", and the fact that it is a forum.
