Forum:Anyone seen these cards before?

So I found something very interesting on TVTropes, that being this image of several cards. They seem to be based on the first anime, but they aren't the Bandai cards as there's some cards in there, like Demonomist and Fairy Olpheir, that never got a Bandai release. Have we been missing an entire incarnation of the game all these years? Rod (talkcontribs) 02:17, January 28, 2015 (UTC)

The TVTropes page seems to indicate that those might be fake as it mentions other companies trying to make cards. Since the Bandai cards were the first cards released, I'd classify those cards in that pic as fake, especially given that one pic I saw compared the Bandai cards to the cards in that pic and there's multiple differences. --MasterMarik (talkcontribs) 02:45, January 28, 2015 (UTC)
The article says that at least two other companies tries to make cards based on the first series but were outcompeted by Bandai. I'm not sure if that means they're outright counterfeit, but on the other hand, who'd give the license to three companies at once? If they are counterfeits they're very well done ones, I must say. Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case, normally fake cards are made in an attempt to sell for profit or use in game, in either case they TRY to resemble the real thing. these come no where close and strike me more as a different companies attempt. Especially since all of those cards are things used in Season 0.

There's an article in Neo Ark Cradle about it, it seens to be from bubble gum: [1] --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 02:24, January 29, 2015 (UTC)
No, the designs of the cards don't match. It's natural that their artworks look similar though, since they're based on the Toei anime. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:27, January 29, 2015 (UTC)
What does the NeoArk thing say? I can't get in as I don't have an account. If these things are semi-real, should we cover them? Rod (talkcontribs) 06:18, February 1, 2015 (UTC)
I have seen these before. You can find lots of odd old Yu-Gi-Oh! merchandise across the internet and anything official is worth documenting here. I could be very well be wrong, but I think this guy, 半魚人 (Merman?) has appeared in more than one set of collectibles, including these cards. I think that's a sticker he appears on in that link. Since we have no documentation of him appearing in anything else, these would be especially worth covering. -- Deltaneos (talk) 02:47, February 15, 2015 (UTC)
Very interesting indeed, Del. "Merman" seems to be one of the unnamed monsters from the manga that Battle Ox destroyed. That's pretty obscure. It seems at least some of these mystery cards were made by Topps; I'd really like to know how official they were! Rod (talkcontribs) 13:51, February 26, 2015 (UTC)
