Forum:Bottomless Question

Ok so Bottomless Trap Hole has a crap ton of questions involved with it but I never found this one and it came up a few days ago.

  • If a monster cannot be destroyed such as Red Nova Dragon, or can negate it's destruction with out negating the effect such as Gravekeeper's Visionary it is still removed from play correct (Banished if that is the word you prefer)?

I ask this as I Faced a Red dragon archfiend (With a Stardust red dragon combo deck) based deck and this card was used a few times and I had lucked into the trap while my Red nova had 500 more attack.

Most proper way to ask the question I can think of: If a card isn't destroyed by Bottomless Trap Holes effect does the rest of the effect occur?

It doesn't banish the monster if the monster is not destroyed. --Draw5 (talkcontribs) 18:47, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

Weird question; I know the answer is probably obvious, but what about Solemn Warning? It says "negate the Summon [...] and destroy that card." So if Red Nova can't be destroyed, what then? Does it bounce back to the Extra Deck (with the Synchro Material presumably sent to the Graveyard)? Or does nothing materially change and it still goes to the Graveyard?--Ryusui (talkcontribs) 19:02, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

Same ruling as Jinzo when he's summoned; if his summoned was "Solemn Judgment/Warning" then his effect never approved and he's destroyed. It must work same way as "Red Nova Dragon" itself - since they both are Continuous Effect that prevent/jammed Trap Card from successful. --FredCat 19:04, February 23, 2012 (UTC)
This card cannot be destroyed by the effects of your opponent's Spells, Traps, or monsters. is a Continuous Effect.
Solemn can destroy it and send it to the Graveyard. Bottomless resolves without effect.

Thanks that's both good and bad to know.

Can Red nova dragon escape from Fiendish Chain? I know that stardust can dodge wicked revival, but I wanna know if this is a similar and legal concept.

By dodge I mean after it has been targeted by fiendish chain can it banish itself to negate an attack and come back no longer affected by chain?

No. Stardust can unbond itself because its Tribute is a cost. Banishing Red Nova is part of the effect that negates the attack, so it will be prevented by Chain. Designless Square (talkcontribs) 21:45, February 28, 2012 (UTC)
