hi, i have a question with CosR, if i have multiple copies of it, and I special summon a moster, am i allowed to draw multiple times even tough it is an optional effect, and if i do, isn't it the same as when you summon a monster and your opponet activates bottomless traphole, you are not allowed to play torrential tribute, because the last thing to happend was a monster being summoned not a card being activated, am i right, thanks in advance!!Zmaster21 19:29, 1 August 2008 (UTC)zmaster21

  • I'm gonna go ahead and guess you can't because the last thing that happened was the activation of a card effect not a special summoning. Bluedog187 19:31, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

thanks, for the fast answer, i think that is the correct way to play play because of what you just said, but i have seen many people saying that you can activate both cards effects, but to me that just can't be.

  • Those people are probably cheating. Bluedog187 19:37, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

those bastards, jajajaja thanks.Zmaster21 19:45, 1 August 2008 (UTC)zmaster21

when a monster is special summoned you can draw one card for every Card of Safe Return on your field don't ask me why that's just how it's been ruled.Skavinger 21:17, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Ohohoho... really?! The opponent cannot activate Bottomless, Torrential, none that "remove summoned monster" cards when Card of Safe Return is out? Ha. Guess CoSR now lives up to it's name. =P Eminentjonfrost 22:03, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

  • What he meant is that when a player activates a Bottomless Trap Hole, you can't activate Torrential Tribute because a summoning wasn't the last thing that happened. It's called Missing the Timing, it has nothing to do with CoSR. Bluedog187 22:08, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
You appear to be misinformed - you only miss the timing when something resolves after the optional event. You can activate all copies of "Card of Safe Return", since the last thing to resolve is the Special Summon. Activating "Card of Safe Return"'s effect isn't resolving anything; the resolving comes later.
Further, you can chain "Torrential Tribute" to "Bottomless Trap Hole", for the same reason - activating "Bottomless Trap Hole" isn't resolving anything, so the last thing to resolve is the Summon.
Also, you can chain "Bottomless Trap Hole" to "Card of Safe Return" (regardless of how many "CoSR" were activated).

    • Wait, isn't "CoSR" a continuous effect? That would mean you cannot chain the effect to itself. Oh well, if UDE said so. :/ Danny Lilithborne 23:22, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Oooh, looks like I was waaay off... oh well. Bluedog187 00:39, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

ok guys, it seems that this is a good question, but i was putting the example of the bottomless and the torrential because the official rules for the bottomless says that the card can only be activated when the monster is summoned, not in response to another card activation, - you cannot activate it after the second effect of silva even tough its second effect has not resolved yet. - does that rule apply to all cards that have optional effects or just to card in specific, because this CosR card question has been in my mind for a long time, i tried to check the official rulings on the website, but there is not a rule for multiple copies of it, maybe some people can think, what a dumb question, but when you are in a tournament, the hand and field advantage is very important if you are more than just a casual player. "Sillva, Warlord of Dark World"'s effect uses a single chain link - you Special Summon him, then you do the hand thing, and then the chain link finishes. The second effect has already resolved, and it is the last thing to resolve, so you cannot activate "Bottomless Trap Hole". It's exactly like "Magical Dimension".

On the Official UDE Judge List, they cover the thing about multiple "Card of Safe Return"s.

Think of it this way: let's assume you're right. Then you shouldn't be able to chain "Bottomless Trap Hole" to a Monarch's effect, since the Monarch's effect is the last thing to "resolve" is the Monarch's effect. However, it's still a popular play for people to do this, and they even say that you can do this on the Official UDE Judge List. This doesn't make sense, so your statement must be false.

@Danny, it's like if Tribute "Sangan" for "Mobius the Frost Monarch", and you also have two Spell Speed 1 effects chaining to each other. See SEGOC (Simultaneous Effects Go On Chain).

  • Yeah, but "Sangan" works like that because it's an effect you have to use. "Card of Safe Return" is optional. Danny Lilithborne 16:43, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
i've already check this info:

and according to you guys, thanks, and to the judge list i can activate the effect of the 2 CosR, thank you very much guys for your help....

  • I meant, "Mobius"'s effect is optional. --Deus Ex Machina 14:12, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
