Would Debunk be able to negate Thunder King Rai-Oh due to the fact that his effect activates when he is sent to the graveyard? I think it would because if he isn't sent to the graveyard you don't get his effect so that must mean that the activation would only be in the graveyard.Mss0290 (talkcontribs) 17:49, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

The monsters that tributed itself as cost can activate in Graveyard. I can let Dest or his pest buddies complete this question because that's too difficult for an amateur like myself... (I am judge level 1 currently) --FredCat 17:51, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Debunk can and will Negate Rai-Oh. You Tribute him for the cost, he goes to the Graveyard and he activates there. Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 17:52, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Skull... read Rai-Oh's lore, it said "Send", not "Tribute". --FredCat 17:53, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Eh, same difference. It's still his cost. Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 17:56, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Sending this card to the Graveyard is a cost to activate the effect which negates Special Summons. This effect does not target.[1] ~Thunder King Rai-Oh OCG rulings.
So that's what you meant? Then how coming Rai-Oh cannot "escape" "Skill Drain"? or was I just being moronic... --FredCat 17:58, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

As far as I know, only his first effect is negated by Skill Drain. Skullvarnish (talkcontribs) 18:03, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, I got it covering so thank you for your discussion! --FredCat 18:10, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
The effect of "Thunder King Rai-Oh" activates and resolves on the field. This is because he needs to be on the field for you to activate his effect in the first place. If his effect activated in the Graveyard, then you would need to send him from the Graveyard to the... um, yeah.
"Debunk" can't be used against its effect. --Deus Ex Machina 22:44, August 15, 2011 (UTC)
Whew, good thing I didn't put that up. The one with Debunk. --FredCat 22:51, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

So if debunk can't negate thunder king's effect then what is a card that i can use to negate it and get rid of it without using divine wrath or something similar. I need something i can side against it.Mss0290 (talkcontribs) 23:31, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

Skill Drain, Effect Veiler, of course - Divine Wrath, and ever Banish Cards that prevent Rai-Oh from try to attend the Graveyard in order to fulfill his effect. --FredCat 23:35, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

skill drain wrecks my deck as well, effect vieler is only on my opponents turn, and divine wrath makes me discard i need a 1 for 1 for him. I appreciate the suggestions though. Thanks :)Mss0290 (talkcontribs) 23:40, August 15, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're talking about. If Skill Drain can't negate his effect, that would mean he activates in the grave. It's just like Stardust and Exiled. Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 03:24, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Wrong! His eff active and resolve on the field. Skill Drain cannot negate its eff because Skill Drain can only negate monster's eff if that monster's card still be face-up on the field when its eff resolve. But if RaiOh is affected by Forbidden Chalice, even if it sent itself for cost, its eff still be negate.-- (talkcontribs) 04:23, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, Skill Drain doesn't negate him like I said. Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 04:29, August 16, 2011 (UTC)
