Forum:Deck Contest 31: Legendary Trio Familia

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

This WDC is based on an idea given to us by Gadjiltron. His idea was to create a deck based around 1 of the Legendary Trio set of monsters, which include the Egyptian Gods, the Sacred Beasts, and the Wicked Gods. I really liked the idea, but here's the kicker, you can't just splash Obelisk the Tormentor in Monarchs and post it up here. The deck you create MUST be able to summon that particular Legend AND be able to use that monster's effect to the fullest.

Guidelines

  • All OCG and TCG are fine, as long as it has an effect.
  • This contest will be in March 1st, 2012 Banlist.
  • You may not add/remove any decks from the Registration Area.
  • You will be given maybe 1 day if you are late to post, after that, you're out.
  • All decks are due August 26, 2012.

Registration

Example of How to Register

Due note that the above was an example, and I will not be doing Obelisk.

Cards to Pick From

Since we have 9 cards to pick from, and we've only been getting about 6-7 contestants for the past few contests, only 1 contestant per card is allowed. This is subject to change if there are more than 9 contestants.

I'll be seeing a CB build for Hamon lol ----SharkTenjo 15:04, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

So...can I submit my deck early? I already have it done and I probably won't be available except in the weekends. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 20:15, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Remind you bro that its March 1 Banlist format :) ----SharkTenjo 00:14, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
It's not officially September 1st, so we'll stick with March 1st list for now. As for Silence, are you sure? If you are sure, post the deck on my talk page with your explanation, exactly how you would if you were posting here, then I'll copy and paste it later. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 01:25, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Ah, crap, got beaten to the punch for Uria. Well, time to get inventive. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:32, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

I did send out some posts to the regular members, if they show, then they show. I did post those kinda late, but Shark and Fallen were here really quickly, so yeah. But I'm looking forward to this, I've never actually seen a cool deck based around the all the Sacred Beasts, only really seen Uria in a Trap Monster deck and Hamon splashed into Crystal Beast. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 02:08, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
Well, a Deck dedicated to all three Sacred Beasts at once would be an Armityle Deck, wouldn't it? And come to think of it, its only concern would be trying to shortcut to Armityle, ignoring proper summon of its component Beasts. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:21, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
Hey gadji can we switch? I'd like Raviel -_- My 1st choice was him but was wanna try out Uria and cant find some good cards for him as my deck is kinda inconsistent. If you agree you can switch our names if you like. Thanks----SharkTenjo 02:45, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
Agreed and arranged. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 06:44, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

Why it the page cleared? now its empty EDIT: NVM it got back after i made the edit lol----SharkTenjo 10:14, August 20, 2012 (UTC)

This seemed like a great idea, but maybe the God cards and the Wicked Gods are a little hard to be creative with. Anyway, 4 decks are better than 0. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:46, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

This may sound stupid, and I should have thought in hindsight, but I'm taking a 2-day holiday, and it just so happens to fall on the due date, and my deck isn't done. Considering the Time Zone difference (if I can get on, I'm supposed to be going to my brother's Monday), I shouldn't be submitting the deck too late, but is okay if I send mine sometime that day? If I don't show by the end, assume I've missed it, I don't know what will happen OR if I'll have internet at any point. Sorry for any trouble and inconvenience caused. --Darkskylarkalexanderx (talkcontribs) 20:58, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Seeing as you'll probably have it, I'll wait until you post it up, or if not just tell us your not going to post it up. -Ace
I'm giving Darkskylarkalexanderx until tomorrow afternoon. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:52, August 26, 2012 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I'm dropping out. The deck I made isn't consistent. So inconsistent it's depressing. Thanks for holding it for me Ace, and thank you everyone who's been patient, but the deck just isn't working. Sorry again. :( --Darkskylarkalexanderx (talkcontribs) 15:25, August 27, 2012 (UTC)

Decks

Slifer the Sky Dragon

Sadly, the end of Gadget Offering is coming on next format. So....I would like to pay a "tribute" to gadgets before they die. HA! See what I did there? Tribute.....since the deck is....never mind, it's still serious about the gadgets dying.

So what the heck is this deck? It's simple, I combined Xyz Gadgets and Tribute cards into one deck! Use it like a regular Gadget Offering deck but with the Caius and Diabolos to back you up! Why Diabolos, you ask? Well that's up to you, I just find Diabolos awesome! Besides, if OTK didn't work and you were stopped for some reason, Diabolo decides your fate for your opponent during their draw phase!

Now where's Slifer and why is there only one? Well you see, what if you accidently run into 2 or 3 in your hand and you don't have the tributes? It's pretty fatal if that happens so it's safe to stick with one.

Advance Zone is another safe card you should have in case you actually do tribute summon. You know why since this is a tribute summon deck.

Finally, Grandsoil the Elemental Lord. Why? Did you ever thought for one second, he can be great tribute fodder? Think about it, when you special summon him, you get a monster from the graveyard, whether it's a gadget or another monster and use it to tribute summon another monster! It'll be convenient to have him when you have 5 earths in your graveyard!

Reckless Greed helps a lot if you want Slifer a boost or just more cards.

Whether it's from the Ground, the Shadows or the Sky, you can take your opponents down with the power of technology! So go ahead, try it out...in exchange for your life......points.Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 01:14, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

The Wicked Dreadroot

I really love Dreadroot, in my opinion he is better than the rest of the Wicked monsters.

Ok so here we go. This deck has a some stall, it is great with Sangan, if my field is looking bad i can simply search for a Marsh or Spirit Reaper. One of the best ways to get Dreadroot is by activating Gold Sarc. or just simply drawing it with Allure or Pot of Avarice.

I've beat Hieratics, Heroic and Machina gearTown. The hardest duel was the Machina geartown, because of Fortress, i was careless and attack Fortress with Dreadroot and then Fortress destroyed my Dreadroot. But what it really saved me was Deck Devastation Virus, i enjoyed seeing those Gadgets and Cyber Valleys going to his graveyard. I may have weak monsters for Deck Devastation Virus but that is where Mystic Plasma Zone helps, i can simply tribute 1 Double Coston and problem solved, i can get it back with Call of the Haunted.

About my Extra deck, i have 2 Utopia for Stall. I have Evilswarm Thanatos there as well, to be honest i don't know if Evilswarm/Steelswarm players actually play Thanatos, but he is awesome, with Plasma Zone i can defeat Fortress and my Thanados is safe because of his effect. And it is another target for Deck Devastation Virus. N50 is for clearing the field and because of DDV. I have Constellar Hyades and M7 so i can just clear the field or recycle monsters from my Grave.

I really liked building this deck and playing with it. --E.G.G. (My Contributions) 15:26, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

Raviel, Lord of Phantasms

Behold. I introduce you this lovely lady with me here today.. Raviel, Lord of Phantasms.

Yea so she's a lovely 4k beater who can be summoned easily and can increase its attack in similar way to that of Elemental HERO Terra Firma. So basically she's a 4k beater that can increase its own attack more greater. So she needs 3 Slaves to turn Raviel on and go into the field. Luckily konami made LOTS of ways to summon easily and get many copies of them into the field at the same time. Some slaves include Tour Guide, Dirty Germy, Gorz, and Fader. We all know TGU for being instant Rank 3 on the field but shes a Fiend that can summon other fiends to the field to turn Raviel on. Germy, when destroyed summons 2 brothers from the deck, Gorz, Tragy and Fader saves me from OTKs and summons themselves and Prodigy is summoned easily without taking a normal summon. Also Instant Fusion summons some slaves from the Extra Deck. Also with these many easy-to-summon slaves, I can have another slave summoned for Raviel's effect to increase attack even further. But Raviel doesnt just rely on her slaves, she "creates" new slaves after she played with the new monster my opponent summons so she can have more slaves which is good. Tragoedia can change its level which can give me more choices like Xyz Summoning. Tragoedia and Raviel can play with each other to summon the finishing blow which has long name but i swear it has also long cannon that deals 2k Damage, yea that guy. Lol anyway thats my deck. Fear the power of Raviel!! Enjoy ----SharkTenjo 08:31, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

Uria, Lord of Searing Flames

When I coughed up this idea, I was thinking of how each God can be utilized to its fullest. One focusing around Obelisk would be generating monsters to fuel its God Hand Crusher effect, one using Ra would be spamming LP gain to put Ra as strong as possible, etc. Guess this doesn't really appeal.

Now, on to the Deck. Over the recent years, Konami's been slowly releasing increasingly useful Continuous Trap Cards, with the aim of introducing Side Deck material to combat each current meta. The side effect is that the Uria Deck, which spams Continuous Traps, gets a lot to work with, and even has sizable Side Deck material to adapt to situations.

So, let's break my usual Deck introduction sequence and look at the Traps first. Imperial Custom is critical to the Deck since it prevents my other Continuous Traps from being destroyed through any means. This means my Tiki Curse and Zoma the Spirit can beat face or absorb hits without much worry, and my other attack prevention cards can sit around for more turns. While the Deck waits to draw Uria, it would normally be stalling until the time is right. That's where Safe Zone and Fiendish Chain come in. Safe Zone has a bonus of retaliating against S/T destruction by ensuring that I take a monster down with it, while Fiendish Chain negates effects that would be threatening my strategy. These Traps alone should be enough to hold the line for Uria's Summoning, and are difficult to surmount unlike Gravity Bind.

Getting to Uria is a fair bit easier than the other candidates of this contest. Since Uria has 0 (rather than ?) ATK, Sangan can fetch it with ease. Magic Planter is thrown in as a draw engine, and even ties in with Safe Zone to help wipe out pesky monsters that threaten my setup. Morphing Jar helps disrupt opponent strategies and can even dump Traps to boost Uria even more. Mask of Darkness is added to recycle Trap Monsters that went down or got sacrificed.

Now, as with most other Decks that put a focus on Trap Cards, two big weaknesses here are Jinzo and Dark Simorgh. Royal Decree is simply a minor nuisance since I still can flip the cards up and summon Uria anyway. To counter them, I threw in Tsukuyomi and Neo-Spacian Grand Mole. Tsukuyomi can also freeze other annoying continuous monster effects (barring Dark Simorgh), while Grand Mole is very often the answer to difficult negation setups.

And finally, If I get copies of Uria and/or Metal Reflect Slime out on the field at the same time, Enormously Wordy Cannon serves as a finishing blow to low LP counts in order to end the Duel a turn earlier. You'll never know what a dying opponent will get during their final turn, after all. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 22:35, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

Voting

Slifer the Sky Dragon Deck

-SharkTenjo I like this and Uria deck BUT the Uria deck actually didnt follow the rules as it used the Tsukuyomi. It said that it is March 2012 Banlist but at that Banlist Tsukuyomi is still forbidden so Slifer deck got mine.

D'OH! --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 06:43, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

DQ - Uria, Lord of Searing Flames

- I'm voting for this deck. IPlay4Fun (talkcontribs) 01:17, August 29, 2012 (UTC)

The winner is User:Fallensilence! Congrats to you! (Sorry Gadjil I did say March 1st Banlist). ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 22:53, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

Wait how? We're tied. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 23:03, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

The Uria Deck didn't followed the banlist rules, sadly... So it was disqualified. --E.G.G. (My Contributions) 23:05, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

AH, okay makes sense. Thank you everyone! (and when I mean everyone, I mean one or two people) Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 23:55, August 30, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, enjoy the win. The deck looked great. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 02:46, August 31, 2012 (UTC)
