Forum:Deck page cleanup

I'm just going through the uncategorised pages and there's a lot of Deck, OTK and Lockdown articles. I'm not sure which of them need to be kept, deleted, merged, renamed and/or cleaned-up.

I haven't read through or researched all of them. But as I see it, we just document the ones that have been particularly significant or popular. Ones that the author of the page or their friends etc. come up with belong in the fourms or user pages. Anyone a bit more knowledgeable on this topic want to have a look through them? -- Deltaneos (talk) 15:49, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

I agree with this. I say we document decks that have been significant in recent years (i.e. Goat Control, Chaos, Dark Armed Dragon, Magical Scientist FTK, Chaos Emperor Dragon OTK and Cyber-Stein OTK) with their own articles, and then merge the other pages into the tips page of the main card i.e. Honest OTK should be merged into Card Tips:Honest.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 19:54, June 17, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, the vast majority of these can be redirected or outright deleted. Some take up a whole page to say what's already mentioned in a few sentences on a card's Tips page. The OTK page has a list of "List of all known One Turn Kills" which should be revised to "Notable OTKs" or something. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 23:18, June 20, 2012 (UTC)
Does anyone want to point out any specific ones which should be kept, deleted, merged or revised? -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:52, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

Why is the Counter Synchro Simorgh deck page still there? I thought that it was unanimous that it should be deleted.  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 15:05, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

I've been going through the above list and tagging them accordingly, and just stopped after redirecting Light and Darkness CCV to Perfect Circle. Machinatown Gadget is just a minor variation of Machina Gadget. So far I consider it pretty straightforward what should be merged, deleted or redirected. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 15:17, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

I have some difficulty in distinguishing whether a deck is worthy of its own article. I know we say that "original ideas" are not documented on this Wikia. However, what constitutes "article worthy" and "not article worthy"? To me, a deck must be:

  • played as part of the meta in the history of tournaments. (like the Black Salvo Deck and Perfect Circle)
  • or fairly popular idea that has been in existence for a long period of time. (like all the different Exodia OTK decks.)

Is this correct or am I missing any other requirements?  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 16:44, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

That sounds right to me. And I personally believe Exodia OTK should be merged with the Forbidden One page, with the simpler strategies being kept and the gimmicky ones being removed. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 16:55, June 21, 2012 (UTC)
