Forum:Declared attack / attack negated, etc.

there are some cards that activate before the attack , or when they are selected for an attack, like Vengeful Shinobi, the effect of Ancient Forest (or the opposite effect of Savage Colosseum) my question is:

  • what happens if the attack is negated, after it was declared?

examples:

  • i attack a vengeful shinobi face up attack position , my attack is negated with Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, my opponent still draws a card?
  • i have played ancient forest and i have Morphtronic Datatron in face up attack position, my opponent attacks him and i play Morphtransition. the monster is considered to have attaked? is destroyed at the end of the battle phase?
  • i attack with a monster while savage colosseum is on the field. My attack is negated with Negate Attack. is my monster destroyed at the end phase??

  • Negating an attack doesn't negate the fact that it was chosen as an attack target, so Vengeful Shinobi's effect is still triggered and activates.
  • If a monster's attack is negated by "Magic Cylinder" it will not be destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase.

So your opponent's monster will not be destroyed by Ancient Forest's effect.

  • After an attack has been declared, if the attack is stopped but not negated by an effect like "Gravity Bind", then the monster is still considered to have declared an attack, so the monster is not destroyed during the End Phase by "Savage Colosseum". However, if the monster's attack is negated by an effect like "Negate Attack", then the monster is not considered to have declared an attack, so the monster is destroyed during the End Phase.

Your monster won't be destroyed during the End Phase.--Hide Head Turtle 14:35, April 28, 2010 (UTC)
