Forum:Different Rarities Stacking together.

So I have really had a problem with this. I play T.G. stun, but tried to max rarity the deck out. Unfortunately for me, T.G. stuff isn't available in anything other than common/rare, so I have full holo staples and stuff, but a non-foil monster core. It seems to me that I tend to either draw a hand full of rares/commons, or a hand full of ultras, secrets, and supers. I've heard a bit about this happening, and was just wondering if it is actually true. If so, would it be in my best interest to try and lower the rarities of all my cards, so that the vast majority are commons/rares, and a few supers (Tengu, warning, duality, etc...)? I'd rather have some input on this before trading away several hundred dollars worth of cards. CardGamesFTW (talkcontribs) 08:42, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, anything with a foil image has a tendency to bend slightly. If you're not careful with your shuffling, all your foils will collapse together in a pile. So, there are a few options to remedy this, without de-foiling your Deck:

  • Use sleeves. Double sleeve, preferably. Your foils would still have a slight tendency to bunch together, but it's not as drastic as using no sleeves.
  • Apply pressure. That'd flatten the foils. You can't completely flatten your foils such that they are like your non-foils, but at least it reduces the issue.
  • Try a different method of shuffling. Dumping your Deck on the table and then mixing up the cards in a pile is quite messy, but at least the results become more random.

Or you could use Gladiator Beasts. My deck has 31 foils, soon to be 33 (it could be almost all foil). BF2 Talk Deck Guides 13:55, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

I definitely use sleeves, but double sleeving is actually illegal at tournaments. If I were to power shuffle before every game(Basically you stack the deck into 4-6 piles, seperating all the cards as you go, so that everything is theoretically random), should this help to remedy the issue? Yes. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 20:23, January 3, 2012 (UTC)

For power shuffling, you need 7 piles, I can't remember the maths why though,,, But that should help,
Also, be carefull with deck tempreture, as iirc, cards that are cooled bend downwards while cards that are warmed, bend upwards, (more promemnt with foils) which is how some players stack their decks, the downwards cards will shuffle towards the bottom, hence pile-shuffling to stop that,

7? Why? I always make 8. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 15:50, January 5, 2012 (UTC)
At least with 7 piles you aren't likely of getting accused for stacking your Deck. I've heard of people stacking by first forming 5 piles, then 8, to ensure they get the same godly opening hand each time. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:16, January 6, 2012 (UTC)
