Can an Earthbound Immortal monster be selected as the target for the aforementioned cards if they can't be chosen as an attack target? — This unsigned comment was made by 69.106.246.101 (talkcontribs) 05:42, December 23, 2009

For "Battle Mania", the affected monster can only attack a monster which is a valid attack target. The "Earthbound Immortal" is not a valid attack target, so it can't be attacked. If the only monster on the field is the "Earthbound Immortal" monster, then the affected monster cannot attack, so it doesn't have to attack.
For "Staunch Defender", I can't find much info on it, but it should work the same way as "Ring of Magnetism". If the affected monster can attack, then it must attack and must attack the "Earthbound Immortal" monster. If the affect monster can't attack (for example, since you only control an "Earthbound Immortal" monster), then the affect monster doesn't have to attack.

Hmm....you cannot target and Earthbound Immortal with Staunch Defender since it cannot be attacked. It works the same with "The Legendary Fisherman" and "Guardian Kay'est", that cannot be targeted by "Staunch Defender" if they cannot be attacked! ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 09:07, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, because "Earthbound Immortal" monsters work the same way as "The Legendary Fisherman".</sarcasm>
The ruling on "Marshmallon Glasses" would be more relevant.

Question on attack target rulings!!!!!!

Soul absorbing bonetower, Earthbounds, Legendary Fisherman...if it cannot be attacked, does that mean the ooponent can attack directly while it's on the field? — This unsigned comment was made by 64.141.165.2 (talkcontribs) 20:55, December 23, 2009

See the cards' individual rulings.
"The Legendary Fisherman" (and "Guardian Kay'est") are exceptions. If you only control "The Legendary Fisherman", then the opponent can attack directly.
For everything else, the opponent cannot attack directly.

Hmm...Maybe it works as Marshmallon Glasses's ruling says. Earthbound Immortals seems to be more close to Marshmallon Glasses's effect that The Legendary Fisherman's. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 23:32, December 23, 2009 (UTC)
