Forum:Effects of Qlis and their categories

I do have a question concerning Qlis and their effects. All Qli pendulum monsters share these 2 effects:

(1) If this card is normal summoned without tributing, or is special summoned, its Level becomes 4 and its original ATK becomes 1800.

(2) If this card is Normal Summoned/Set, it is unaffected by activated card effects from any monster whose original Level/Rank is lower than this card current level.

According to this wiki, effect (1) is said to be unclassified, effect (2) is a continuous one.

Assume Re-Qliate to be on the field. Normal summoning without tribute leads to effect (1) and (2), Re-Qliate will negate effect (1) and (2), so, there will be a monster with 2400/1000 or 2800/1000 and no effects.

End Phase.

The next turn.

The effect negation of Re-Qliate stopps applying. Effect (1) will not start to apply, because it is unclassified. Effect (2) will start applying, since it is continuous.

I do understand this. But, the question is how to tell, that effect (1) is unclassified, while (2) is continuous? Both do have the structure of continuous effects (no colon or semicolon).

I'm not sure if this falls into the classic BKSS. Have you checked Card Rulings:Qli? Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 17:25, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

I think the "becomes" effect is worded as something changing, like a trigger effect, but it doesn't start a chain. I believe it is an Unconfirmed Effect that places a condition on the monster instead of on the whole field. The continuous "unnaffected" effect works as long as the monster is on the field, and is continuously radiating from the Qli monster. Just my thoughtsThechosenone124 (talkcontribs) 23:02, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

BKSS..... XD That's funny. But, back to topic. I've done more research.

I've checked the Qli page, it is not helpful.

There are other monsters sharing the effect structure of the Qlis, that means:

(a) You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing.

(b) If this card is Normal Summoned without Tributing, ATK-reduction.

Namely, "Charging Gaia the Fierce Knight". Maybe others. His ATK-Reduction effect is also unclassified, so maybe there is a rule.

@Thechosenone: So, ATK-reduction effects at summoning may be unclassified? I do not think so, because of "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast":

Effect: You can Normal Summon/Set this card without tributing, but its Original ATK and DEF becomes halved.

It is said to be a summon condition, not unclassified. A new guess:

The effect of Normal Summoning without Tribute and the effect of ATK-reduction are two different effects, then the effect of ATK-reduction is unclassified?

Effects that allow you to perform an inherent summon of the monster are summon effects. Fusilier's effect allows you to normal summon it without tributing, in other words, it allows you to perform an inherent summon. Summon monster effects are considered unclassified effects Summon monster effect which can be negated. Similarly, Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World's summon effect can be negated. I suppose using Skill Drain on Grapha negates its summon effect on the field, though that doesn't do anythingThechosenone124 (talkcontribs) 02:48, April 1, 2016 (UTC)
