Forum:Gozen Match VS. Jade Knight and Elemental Hero Wildheart?

If you have this both cards on the field Elemental Hero Wildheart and Jade Knight, then a Gozen Match is activated, will any of the two monsters will be destroyed?

First, when you activate "Gozen Match", it does not "destroy" anything. The effect of "Jade Knight" will do nothing.
Second, while "Gozen Match" is face-up on the field, it generates a condition that destroys cards. The condition destroys the cards, not "Gozen Match"'s effect, so the effect of "Elemental Hero Wildheart" will do nothing. To my knowledge, this also applies when you first activate "Gozen Match".
In total, you can send either card to the Graveyard.

This is a good example of the frustration this game can produce in the rulings. Wildheart is uneffected by Trap Card effects or not ? If he is uneffected by trap cards, then the effect (condition or no condition) shouldn't even exsist. If he's not uneffected by trap cards, then why would they state in the lore he is uneffected by trap card effects.

  1. Is Gozen Match a trap card ?
  2. Does Gozen Match have an effect as a trap card ?
  3. Condition? what condition, either Gozen Match is a trap card with an effect or it isn't.

PS, dont take it personal its part of my frustration with the game and some of the crazy rulings. Its niether black or white, its gray in some areas where it shouldnt be. Vanhelsink 13:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

"Gozen Match" functions identically to "Rivalry of Warlords", which has the following rulings:
When "Vampire Lord" is Summoned while your opponent's "Rivalry of Warlords" is active and your only monsters are non-Zombie-Type monsters, "Vampire Lord" is destroyed, but is not considered destroyed by "Rivalry of Warlords"' effect and won't be Special Summoned.
The effect of "Rivalry of Warlords" does not destroy "Vampire Lord". Thus, it won't be the effect of "Rivalry of Warlords" that would destroy "Elemental Hero Wildheart", so "Elemental Hero Wildheart" can be destroyed. The same applies to "Gozen Match".
Both cards have the effect of generating a condition. That condition does everything.
It's kind of like "Non-Spellcasting Area" vs "Inferno Fire Blast". "Inferno Fire Blast" generates a condition - not an effect - so "Non-Spellcasting Area" can't undo it.
