Forum:Greed Burn

Well, Greed burns the opponent if they draw via a card effect. There are actually quite a few cards that give your opponent a card as a "cost"... what if we turned that cost into added pay-off?

Well, this deck wants the opponent to draw as many cards as possible - because in doing so, your opponent will get owned by the burn effect of Greed. It's sort of like when Nurse Reficule gives you a Gift Card, in terms of philantrophy-that-really-isn't.

The Bistro Butcher, Chainsaw Insect, and Kuraz are your primary aggressors. They will give your opponent not-so-free cards in exchange for pretty good effects/ATK values. Sasuke Samurai 3 will give your opponent obscene drawing power - it's why I included Honest, which also works with Kuraz.

Now, I really don't want my opponent to do anything with all those cards they just got. That's why I included Heavy Slump. The ability to quarter the opponent's hand is not so bad - plus, at the end of the turn the opponent takes 1000 burn damage. Also, with all those cards, Disturbance Strategy and Card Destruction become that much more awesome.

The best opening move is a set Cat of Ill Omen to get to Greed, or Sangan to get to the Cat. Those cats also search out the traps which comprise about a third of the deck, so some nice searching power there. Summoning Chainsaw Insect or setting Defender are also good moves. Also, if you have it, set Greed. That's just a good idea. You should also set Dark Bribe or Judgment of Anubis, to protect it.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck... that took 1 minute to think up. Runer5h 04:05, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

You have what seems like a good build, just be careful with Card Destruction, Morphing Jar, and Hand Destruction, as Greed burns any player that draws from an effect, not just your opponent. Aserik 21:02, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

(slaps self) You're right! I was thinking "I'd better not put in Appropriate, or I'll get hosed," and I didn't see that! In that case, I'm replacing The Warrior Returning Alive with Barrel Behind the Door, because it can double my opponent's damage while keeping me safe, and can be searched out by the Cat. Thanks for the reminder. Runer5h 21:09, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

What, no one else has a comment about this deck? What can I do to improve it? Runer5h 14:26, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Book of Eclipse might be a good card to add. It helps you reuse morphing jar and hiro's shadow scout's effect, defend from an attack, and make your opponent draw. 64.175.41.207 06:59, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

That makes sense. I just don't know what I'd take out to put Book of Eclipse in. Hmm... how about just one Bistro Butcher. Thanks for the idea. Runer5h 00:59, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Gift of Greed might be helpful, 1000 dmg(not including multiple greeds). Maybe a prime material and card destriction if you don't aleady have one /Massive Life Gain, massive burn. I have a deck like this too and I thought I was alone here...

Prime Material Dragon? Are you kidding me? That would just heal my opponent. And I'd rather not use The Gift of Greed. I've considered it, but instead of giving my opponent two new cards, I'd rather give them two cards because I destroyed some stuff, à la Kuraz, or give them more than two cards, like with Sasuke Samurai, Disturbance Strategy, Book of Eclipse, etc. Runer5h 14:13, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Yeah, Prime Material Dragon will heal your opponent, destroying the whole point of the deck. Try adding another Destiny Hero - Defender, mainly because of his massive DEF and milling/and in this case, burning effect. You may also consider putting in another Barrel Behind the Door. Sure, why not add another Barrel. Meanwhile, I think 2 Defenders and a Reinforcement are enough - if something is that big of a threat that I need a Defender wall, I think that having 3 of them won't be enough. I'd rather Honest up a Samurai or Kuraz, or, better yet, destroy the monster with Kuraz's effect.
Does anyone have any side deck ideas? Runer5h 01:40, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

How about putting Dark assailant which helps u retrieve back Morphing Jar and use it's effect again. Also you need more book of eclipse to prevent attacks lets say Evil Hero Dark Gaia

You mean Night Assailant, not Dark Assailant. Believe me, they're two completely different cards. And it's not a bad idea - I'll think about it. Runer5h 15:09, 25 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Crazymode, lol imagine getting a greed and 3 disturbances on the first turn, set em all down. end turn. then bam activate all the trap cards. GAME right there. or 2 greeds and 2 disturbances, or 3 greeds and 1 disturbances. that would be himuliating. :0

I realize this is a burn deck but if you put protector of the sanctuary, you can increase this deck's effectiveness. If you draw protector and disturbance strategies on the first turn, summon protector and set the trap. During your opponent's standby phase use disturbance to send all their cards to their deck, but they can't draw because of protector. So essentially you'll gain MASSIVE hand and field advantage. So, why aren't there any cards that burn by themselves, they are sometimes needed to finish to opponent off and they just happen to have managed to destroy Greed. (Cards like Ceasefire and Secret Barrel, anything else isn't worth it here) Falzar FZ 03:29, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Serial Spell Heavy Burn

Might I recomend the Card Destruction-Serial Spell COmbo? First you add card destruction then activate serial spell which means you ditch your hand but it then duplicates the effect of card destruction which mean your opponent could end up drawing 12 times and in some cases could create an OTK situation
