Forum:Harpie's Hunting Grounds + Hysteric Party

I was wondering about these two cards. If I have Harpie's Hunting Ground out and use Hysteric Party to summon say, 3 Harpie Lady 1 and 2 Harpie Queen. My opponent has 3 cards face down and I have nothing set. I have to destroy 5 cards due to Harpie's Hunting Ground. Can I choose to destroy 3 face downs, then the field card itself with it's own effect to prevent having to destroy my Hysteric Party?

Likewise, if I summon 2 Harpies at the same time with no cards on the field other than Harpie's Hunting Ground and one of my set cards, can I destroy the field card and save my face down? Or would the field card's effect STILL activate seeing as multiple harpies were summoned, forcing me to destroy the cards on the field?

First Harpie Queen is not a "Harpie Lady" monster while it is in the Graveyard, so it cannot be special summoned by Hysteric Party!
Also, with Harpie's Hunting Ground you destroy a S/T card each time Harpie Lady, or Harpie Lady Sisters is summoned. Hysteric Party special summons the monsters simultaneously which counts as 1 time of special summoning a Harpie Lady (or Harpie Lady Sisters), so you only get to destroy 1 S/T on the field.
You can choose to destroy Harpie's Hunting Ground itself with its effect.

Um, "Harpie Queen" is treated as "Harpie Lady" while in the Graveyard. Other than that, he's right. --Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 22:52, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you very much ATEM, that really helps. I never would have guessed that it's treated as a single time. That actually helps my deck out, seeing as Harpie's Hunting Ground was screwing me over. 75.175.27.176 23:42, September 14, 2009 (UTC)Sephilli
