Forum:Help with online dueling program

Hi, I just need to ask a favour from people who duel online. Another user has considered creating an online dueling program. He'd like a little info on exisiting methods people use to play Yu-Gi-Oh! online. Whether you've used actual applications like YVD, BYOND, Yu-Gi-Oh! Online etc. or simple things like describing moves over IRC and MSN, could you give us a list of what you use (or have used in the past), their advantages/disadvantages and how they work?

• I use YVD and love it. YVD is a free downloadable program that allows you to create decks and duel with them. This works by going into a chat room and find an opponent and going onto the duel setting where you type in the duelists name, or their IP (the opponent has to give this). The advantages are free online dueling, the fact that you can see the cards, lifepoints, cards in hand, etc. There's only one disadvantage and that's that the chat room is a little confusing to set up an account on. --Tantara 01:01, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

I use yu-gi-oh online 2 which is run by konami. The disadvantages are that it costs 3 dollars for every 30 duels and that you will run into opponents that have nearly every pre-synchro card in the game. Synchro doesn't exist yet in ygo2online. It is fun to play and you can buy preloaded decks for 3 bucks that gives you 30 dp (duelist points) with it. There are alot of scammers that try to steal your dp codes or account by claiming to work for konami. The best website that combats this is vertecles.com If you are going to play buy spellcaster's unity and some of the later dp phases don't buy dp 1-6 as no deck comes with them. values of your cards are on ygo2values.com

• Well, personally, I've seen nothing wrong with the options you have on BYOND, albeit they come with their own caveats. "Duel Monsters Online" is a fully automated duel system, but has a very limited selection of cards. "Duel Monsters Unlimited" has all the cards, plus manga/anime cards. "Duel Monsters Expert", where I play, also has custom cards, which fudges up the metagame a little; however, you can simply choose not to use customs, as many do.
