I was talking with some friends of what booster was the best and the one who change the style of the game. 1.Invasion of Chaos: Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning and Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End vs 2.Phantom Darkess: Dark Armed Dragon and The Dark Creator. 3.Others.

For me there is no better booster that Invasion of Chaos. What do you think is the better? Paladin Endymion 19:17, November 3, 2009 (UTC)

In all truth the one in phantom darkness who set the bar was Yubel and its forms then the Dark Armed Dragon then Dark Creator but i feel that the invasion of chaos has the best cards if you use Chaos Emperor Dragon-Envoy of the End then summon Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning well its pretty much end game especially if you have Dark Magician of Chaos.

I think Phantom Darkness led to the bigger change. At one point, literally 90% of the decks in the tournaments were Dark Armed Return decks.--Black Rose 01:11, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

  • I disagree. Up to the release of IOC, all decks were a beatstick-related mixture of cards, with lots of now Forbidden cards thrown in. In general, there was no strategy, at least none except Exodia. But after IOC, the dueling world saw that there were ways to win besides having a hand of Raigeki and 2000+ ATK LV4 monsters. Chaos, namely. After IOC, literally 100% of the dueling world turned to Chaos decks, and with good reason, since they were the best of the best then, and still are among the best, despite being struck by the Banhammer many times over. Sure, Dark Armed Return was a massive turn of all duelists to a single deck (I should know, I re-started playing back then), but the real revolution, the booster pack that gave birth to strategies ahead of its time, was Invasion of Chaos. And what an Invasion that was. --Darth Covah (Talk | Contribs) 07:45, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

I agree. Invasion of chaos is the best.07:58, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Both sets had its advantages and disadvantages (though not too many since these were the best two boosters), but I have to say that Chaos takes the cake. The monsters in Phantom Darkness were awesome, but they were slower to get out than Chaos. And Dark Armed Return wasn't what it was until Duelist Genesis' key cards came around (Krebons, Emergency Teleport, and the advent of Synchros). Chaos only really needed the Invasion of Chaos monsters. Everything else in a typical Chaos Deck came together around those core monsters and support cards.

Invasion of Chaos revolutionized the game to the point where a Forbidden List was set up. And following that plenty of cards that weren't Forbidden were nerfed versions of those that were, due to the fear of a similar event happening. That should be enough explanation. --Gadjiltron 10:25, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
