Forum:Lava golem - is my understanding right?

I can understand that putting Lava Golem onto your opponents side causes them to lose 1000 life each turn, which is pretty harsh. But aren't you also giving them control of a lvl 8 monster with 3000 atk, with which they could kick your own ass? Yes, you special summon Lava Golem to your opponent's field and your opponent controls it so it can be used to attack. There's is nothing on the card that restricts that.-- HHTurtle ^Talk   08:46, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

well, it IS a good strategy sometimes. just imagine, thats 1 of very few ways to get rid of Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes. Also Naturia Bamboo Shoot is a threat you would want to get rid of with that and there are many others. Tributing is a cost, so your opponent can't prevent his monsters from being tributed at all. The high attack is no problem, there are enough cards that can prevent him from attacking (Messenger of Peace, Level Limit - Area B, Gravity Bind, ect). -dest- (talk • contribs) 12:16, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe you are right if you dont have any strategies for Lava Golem. Lava Golem is very usefull for burn deck because you prevent your opponent for attacking. How about: Give Lava Golem to my opponent, set Magic Cylinder, Remove Brain Washing and Spiritual Fire Art Kurenai, ur opponents turn, lose 1000, then attack with lava golem, magic cylinder, during your main phase, remove brain washing and kurenai, finish him with tremendosu fire and end the duel. Lava Golem can be really useful along side Psychic Jumper and Prime Material Dragon. What say you have both Psychic Jumper and Prime Material Dragon on your side of the field, and another psychic-type monster that you don't really need. And your opponent controls at least two monsters. And you had Lava Golem in your hand. Well, you can tribute two monsters on your opponent's side of the field. Then use Psychic jumper to switch that extra psychic monster with that lava golem. Now you have a 3000 ATK beat stick, and along side Prime material dragon, Lava Golem adds 1000 LP instead of damaging. There, see? 203.87.178.26 (talk) 03:23, December 6, 2010 (UTC)
