Forum:Lead Yoke and Glassjaw

If Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke battles an opponent's monster and I use it's effect to detach a Battlin' Boxer - Glassjaw (as an Xyz Material), can I activate Glassjaw's effect or will it miss the timing?

If Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke is sent to the Graveyard while Battlin' Boxer - Glassjaw was attached to it as an Xyz Material, can I activate Glassjaw or will it miss the timing?

For the 1st scenario, I believe it is impossible for "Glassjaw" to miss the timing there, as it is a sure-fire guarantee "Glassjaw" being sent to the Graveyard is the last thing to happen.

On a a side note, if "Lead Yoke" would be destroyed by a card effect that is not Chain Link 1, "Glassjaw" will miss the timing as it would have activated its effect when it was sent to the Graveyard, but couldn't, as it was still the middle of a Chain; there is still at least 1 more Chain Link to resolve before the Chain fully resolves ("Glassjaw" being sent by a card effect has to be the last thing to happen. Also, keep in mind the protection effect of "Lead Yoke" doesn't start a Chain Link.)

For the 2nd, Xyz Materials on an Xyz Monster that leave the field simply "get sent to the Graveyard" by game rules, which don't count as card effects. This is why "The Seal of Orichalcos" can be destroyed when a new Field Spell is activated, as "destruction by game rules" =/= "destruction by card effect". --UltimateKuriboh (talk • contribs) 06:09, October 14, 2013 (UTC)
