Forum:Morphtronic/Genex/Genex Ally/R-Genex Deck - Opinions?

With the advent of HA04, I've been toying with the idea of mashing up the best of the Morphtronics with the best of the Genex/Genex Ally/R-Genex's. I think, considering the summoning engines for both, that this could create some very fast synchro summons, but this could just as easily clutter the deck and kill it off with so many things going on. I don't really have any specific deck list because I don't want to throw too much effort into the deck if it won't work. Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions, etc. on this deck idea?

R-Genex are actually able to work pretty well on their own, (with Ultimate Offering), and with a few Genex Ally Birdman stuck in for good measure, might work as a deck. However, Morphtronic require too many of their own cards to be eaisly merged, due to Morphtronic Celfon being the main searcher :3-09:59, April 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yah, I was starting to think that the more I looked into it... Ok, so what about an R-Genex/Genex Ally deck? I'm kind of new to them, and while I've looked at all the cards in each archetype, I don't really know how one would go about building out that deck. If you go through with that, I have a Monster for you. Genex Ally Duradark. Nuff said. MachinaMan (talkcontribs) 18:02, April 23, 2011 (UTC)

Yah, I'd definitely be going for a Genex Ally Duradark or two. I don't know what else I would use in that deck though. I'm kind of new to the Genex's, but they seem like they could be fun and pack a bit of a punch. OmegaB1Gz (talkcontribs) 18:59, April 23, 2011 (UTC)OmegaB1Gz

I made a Deck of that nature. Here's an overview:
"R-Genex Accelerator" can Special Summon a "Genex" monster added to your hand, whether by draw or by a searching effect like "Genex Neutron". However, none of the "Genex" monsters can Special Summon themselves from the hand except "Oracle", and "Accelerator" can only survive for any length of time in Defense Position. You can use cards like "Hand Destruction" and "Card Destruction" to provide this card with targets quickly, but you can't use effects that activate in the Damage Step like "Sangan".
Most of the "Genex Ally" monsters are splashable in other specific archetypes. You won't find much help there. "Triarm" and "Triforce" aren't too useful unless you're using Worms. On the other hand, "Duradark" is cool in the Side Deck, and "Axel", who can be made with "Genex Controller" and CyDra, is terrific for repeated Synchro Summons.
On a separate note, have you considered Karakuri Genex?

Do you have any kind of deck list that I could look at to get a basic idea of what a Genex/R-Genex/Genex Ally build looks like? I think the only way I'm going to really get what kinds of things you're talking about is if I can see the entire deck together. And I haven't, mainly because I don't really like the Karakuris. They change positions more often and more uncontrollably than Morphtronic, so I'm very tentative about using them at all. OmegaB1Gz (talkcontribs) 17:17, April 24, 2011 (UTC)OmegaB1Gz

I made a Deck here. I would just copy and paste it in if it weren't archived, preventing me from accessing the Deck recipe. Just a sec:

I like this build a lot. The only reservation I have is the three Solidarities. If you were to replace those three with other cards, what would you pick? And I'm US, so I think Cyber Dragon is knocked down to two. What would you replace one of them with? OmegaB1Gz (talkcontribs) 04:00, April 25, 2011 (UTC)OmegaB1Gz

CyDra's been Unlimited in TCG and OCG for a year. Remember what I mentioned about "R-Genex Accelerator" being painfully frail? That's the problem "Solidarity" solves. Without it, you'll need other ways of keeping it alive, I think. My suggested replacement would be "Fighting Spirit" or "Forbidden Lance". If you want to cut "Solidarity", also remove "My Body as a Shield", since battle will take precedence over destruction as your leading cause of death, and splash in some fruity staple Synchros like "Brionac" and "Stardust". ("Brionac" = CyDra + "Recycled".)

Ah ok. Alright that makes sense. Well, the other thing I just realized that I might not like running 3 Genex Controllers. If I was to sub one of them out, what would you suggest? (Sorry, I just don't really enjoy running normal monsters haha.) I'm not trying to come off as picky or anything; I'm just trying to find the best way to build this deck around my style. Genex Ally Birdman. He's like Genex Controller, but much, much better. 207.233.120.2 (talk) 15:23, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

So kick one of of the Controllers for Birdman? OmegaB1Gz (talkcontribs) 16:00, April 25, 2011 (UTC)OmegaB1Gz

Kick two, actually, and Spare. Run a full set. Nothing in the Deck searches Controller directly; he's only needed for Windmill Genex, who is ballnuts, and Vindikite, who you need Windmill and Recycled to Synchro (this never, ever happens). 207.233.120.2 (talk) 16:14, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, I just realized BRD screws Solidarity, so I think I'd kick that. So, with a little bit of my own touches, it'd look something like this?

And considering the Cyber Dragons might be hard to come by (I currently possess none), what could I use in replacement (monsters that take the name Cyber Dragon)? OmegaB1Gz (talkcontribs) 18:01, April 25, 2011 (UTC)OmegaB1Gz

"Cyber Dragon" is an amazing card. Without it, bouncing back is harder and Synchros are slower. The only other cards that can take its name are "Cyber Dragon Zwei", who's OK but not noteworthy, and "Proto-Cyber Dragon", who can't be abused with "Overload Fusion". If you can't get CyDra, good luck Summoning Level 8 Synchros.
The purpose of "Black Rose Dragon" is to wipe the field directly before using "Overload Fusion" for massive, fatal damage with "Chimeratech Overdragon". You neither need "Solidarity" at that point nor should you use "Black Rose Dragon" without "Overload Fusion" in your hand.
As for "Genex Ally Powercell", he's outclassed by a card that's been out for years ("Genex Turbine"), and I wouldn't recommend either because they aren't better than "Solidarity". Most of the Genex Allies are designed for other Archetypes, like "Crusher" in Blackwings. I assume you own "Powercell"?

I'll definitely see if I can get a hold of one or two of them. If not, would the best replacement be Zwei? Oh ok, that makes sense. I get it now. I don't own a Powercell. I was just thinking that he might be a decent beatstick in there (despite the 1700) and he's a bit of a boost for all the Darks in the deck.
