Forum:New Ritual Deck

Hi, I would like to ask for educated opinions on this Ritual Deck that I created.

Incidentally, here are some of the combos inherent of this Deck:

  • Summon Elemental Mistress Doriado → activate Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan;
  • Summon any high-level Ritual Monsters → activate Level Retuner to reduce its level by 2 → since that monster is now a Level 6 or lower, you can equip Ritual Weapon on it;
  • Summon Armageddon Knight → by Armageddon Knight's effect, send any of the Ritual Djinns to the Graveyard → Tribute Armageddon Knight and the Djinn you sent to the Graveyard as Tribute to Ritual Summon any of your high-level Ritual Monsters;
  • Activate Widespread Dud and select two face-up Attack Position monsters on the field as targets (if possible select both from your opponent's side) → play Double Cyclone and select Widespread Dud as target → with the destruction of Widespread Dud activate Chain Whirlwind as part of a Chain (in a best-case scenario, a total of 5 cards in your opponent side of the field (2 Monsters and 3 Spell or Trap) will be destroyed by this combo);
  • Play Advanced Ritual Art and send any Level 4 Normal Monster in the Deck to the Graveyard to Ritual Summon Cú Chulainn the Awakened → activate the Trap Card Ritual Buster → activate Cú Chulainn's effect and remove from play the Level 4 Normal Monster that you sent to the Graveyard by Advanced Ritual Art's cost to increase Cú Chulainn's ATK → on your next turn activate Solomon's Lawbook to extend Ritual Buster's and Cú Chulainn's effect for one extra turn;
  • Summon a Monster that has a ATK value inferior to its DEF value in Attack Position (for this Hyozanryu, Mystical Elf or Skull Guardian are the best suited) → when your opponent declares an attack, activate Staunch Defender to make sure he is forced to attack the monster you just summoned → activate Desert Sunlight to change your monster to Defense Position → activate Cross Counter to increase the damage to the opponent and destroy all the attacking Monsters;
  • Summon Demise, King of Armageddon → summon Divine Grace - Northwemko and target Demise with its effect → activate Demise's effect → since Demise remains face-up on the field, Northwemko will not be destroyed either;
    • There are ways to extend this combo even further:
      • Summon one extra Ritual Monster prior to activating Demise's effect → remove from play the Ritual of Grace in your Graveyard and target the Ritual Monster you just summoned with its effect (playing Ritual Cage is also a feasible alternative for this move) → when you activate Demise's effect, both Northwemko and the other Ritual Monster will not be destroyed by it;

Its too complicated and you have too many cards in there. Try slimming it down to 40 - 45 cards max. To help with that, focus on only 2 rituals monsters at most because anymore than that and the deck becomes way inconsistent. Also don't make your combos so long and complex because chances of you getting all the necessary cards at once is highly unlikely. Focus on one or two ritual monsters an base it around that and that should help you make the deck more consistent. Try this suggestion and comment back to see if it worked because right now the deck is a mess. I look forward to helping you. =] u5h3ra1i' Relished Saber Player 03:49, July 31, 2010 (UTC)
I know it seems a mess, but that is kind of inevitable when you try to create any all-rounded deck, regardless of the type. Anyway I followed your advice and removed all Ritual Monsters but Northwemko, Demise and Ruin (since the last two share the same Ritual Card, I don't see a problem in having them both) as well some cards which they were related to. The removed ones were:
The result was that now I can manage to get the cards I need for my combos a lot faster. Still, there is one thing that worries me: after the "slimming" my small number of Trap Cards became even smaller. I am thinking about removing some other cards to open space for new Traps. In this case, I would like an advice about which Traps to put in.
Okay, I edited your deck according to what you said you took out. Don't think that 8 traps is a small number at all. Most competitive players try to keep their decks to 8 or less usually. I've seen decks that run 5, 3, 2, 1, and even no traps at all. I don't know exactly how well this deck will do still though so test it out. There are still a large number of things I'd like to suggest, but you should still see how it works. But remember 40 cards helps your deck work at optimum speed so I think there are a few more monsters you could take out. I recommend taking out Serpent Night Dragon, Jack's Knight, Hyozanryu, and Seiyaryu. Try that out and get back to us. u5h3ra1i' Relished Saber Player 23:57, August 2, 2010 (UTC)
