Forum:New or Old Archtypes and Themes- Which do you prefer?

I was bored and began to wonder what do most people want to see in new sets. Would it just be new archtypes and themes (like Arcane Force, Lightsworn, Gladiator Beasts, Etc.) or support for older archtypes and themes (Gravekeeper, Harpies, A Legendary Ocean, Etc.)?

Personally I think most of the older archtypes and themes don’t get enough support, even some of newer ones seen to get very little. Like Cloudians, they came out in Gladiator’s Assault, nothing in Phantom of Darkness, got a two new cards in Light of Destruction, and nothing in Duelist Genesis. While Gladiator Beasts came out in Gladiator’s Assault, got new cards in Phantom of Darkness, new cards in Light of Destruction, and new cards in The Duelist Genesis. Cloudians could use support more then Gladiator Beasts too. A lot of the older themes and archtypes lack support and desperately need it while other themes and archtypes are getting too much support (Zombie and Lightsworn are some). I do think new themes and archtypes are still important, as well as new cards that don’t exactly fall in any theme. If a set was to come out being 100 cards of support to older themes (Harpies, A Legendary Ocean, Gravekeeper, Volcanic, Burn Decks, Mill Decks, Fire Decks, Machine Decks, etc.) and no new cards besides ones for older themes and arc types, that would probably be one of best sets made to most people. that’s just what I think. Now what dose everyone else thing on subject? Bio 03:22, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

all....

i want all arch to improve equally but not literally still can really have a chance against any archtypes...

for me, neospacian archtype cannot win in any archtypes... amazonness archtype aren't that powerful... also destiny heroes aren't so practical with there support cards... gradius theme also won't withstand any decks... some decks didn't have improvement what so ever... i only wished that konami did include those anime cards that support forgotten archtypes to make yu-gi-oh a more fair game for all...

  • Neo-spacian and destiny hero do have a lot of support. Not sure if Neo-spacian will be winning any regional or anything though, Destiny heroes might if done right. Amazonness still could use a lot of support, same for gradius theme (though it dose have some really nice cards now). Some of anime cards would really help forgotten themes, while others could even make some themes too good lol. Gravekeepers are getting rather popular again due to all the remove from play and graveyard based decks, but they still could use some more support. Most player just take the most splashable cards from these archtypes (grand mole, dasher, swords women, blue thunder, gravekeeper spy) and just use them. Kinda is sad how those few by them selves do better then the whole theme together usually. Bio 11:57, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
  • I liked the old ones better... lightsworn are cool but... the new themes are broken... --Tantara 22:08, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
  • Neo-Spacians were made weak. I'm trying to figure out the best build for it up to this day... Chris427 02:35, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

i already made a neo-spacian deck already and it turns out IF ur opponent doesn't used his/her staples and splashables... it will win but without the cocoon thing...

the best neo-spacian deck so far is air neos deck theme...

I personally feel that some of the older archetypes are getting more and more support to make them competitive. Just look at Batterymen. From nothing when they first came out, to this... or so I see it.

I enjoy messing with new themes, but I got to agree that some of them could greatly use more support. Take Venoms for example. From the first time they showed up in TAEV, they've never gotten any other support. And their monsters are unusually weak. Chains are another such example, being really promising but so undersupported they don't go anywhere... but since they've just been released we'll just have to wait and see.

Then, the excessively supported themes. E-Heroes and Neo-Spacians have been getting more and more support over about 10 sets at least, but they're still largely stuck at bottom-tier. I know about Judai/Jaden being the main character and all, but... seriously. Even Evil Heroes find ways to top the themes sometimes, and they didn't get much support. Some cards are best left in the anime, IMO. --Gadjiltron 04:07, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Well Evil Heroes are the best =P I really do wish they had more support, only 2 non fusion Evil Heroes...With a little more support, they might become one of best decks (mine is incredibly fast). Batteryman is one of few themes that actually did get a support, and it became a very strong deck also (if used right). Elemental Heroes are very over supported, but they still can make good decks. I fought a E-Hero deck one that used all the heroes (before premium pack 2) and it beat my old evil hero (before it was as good as it is now). I just hope the only new E-hero and Neos cards will be unreleased anime cards and not new ones lol. With Synchro out, lots of forgotten themes seem to be getting few new tricks and this is just with the current 9 or so TCG Synchro monsters. Still would be nice to get more direct support then a few new tricks. Bio 17:00, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I'd rather see the Neo Spacians get more support, because they could make a great deck if they had more support. And the Evil Heroes could use more support as well. Bluedog 17:25, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
