Forum:Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus Trap Hole?

Ok here's the situation. Umi is on the field. My friend summons Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus. So I use trap hole to stop it from getting on the field. Now people around us say that he can still use Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus's effect. This does not make sense to me. If I stop the summon how can he activate the effect? So if I could get a ruling on this that would be nice thanks.

  • 1. Traphole can't destroy neo daedalus, he is special summoned. Only Bottomless can.
  • 2. (Bottemless-)Traphole doesn't negate the summon. It is only activated in response to the summon, the turn player still has priority and can activate the monster effect bevore you can chain trap hole. In order to negate the summon (and so prevent him to activat his effect) you have to use cards like Solemn Judgment or Horn of Heaven. Those specifically state, that they negate the summon.

After your opponent successfully Summons a monster, he gets the first chance to respond to the Summon. You can't do anything until either your opponent does something, or your opponent passes.
Thus, after he Summons "Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus", he gets the first chance to respond, and can activate its effect. Afterwards, you can Chain "Bottomless Trap Hole" as Chain Link 2. Resolving backwards, "Bottomless Trap Hole" destroys "Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus", and then "Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus" sends all cards to the Graveyard. (Remember that like most cards, "Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus" doesn't need to remain on the field for its effect to resolve.)

Remember the forum of Exiled Force vs. Trap Hole, Exiled won as it make your opponent lost 2 cards for one. --FredCat100 21:58, March 25, 2010 (UTC)
No, trap hole will never be activated in that situation. If you don't play properly and the opposing player flips trap hole before the turn player could declare the activation of Exiled Force, then you rewind the situation and trap hole is never activated.Yummyjelly 03:37, March 26, 2010 (UTC)
No, Player A summons Exiled Force, then Player B can respond to the summoning with Trap Hole, Player A can call priority on Exiled Force's effect to tribute and destroy a monster. Trap Hole would resolve first but nothing would happen because Exiled Force is gone due to the cost of his effect, then his effect destroys a monster — This unsigned comment was made by CNBLUE (talkcontribs) 04:04, March 26, 2010

no, the turn player has priority. He first chooses if activating the effect or not. If he chooses the opponent no longer needs to activate trap hole, so he wont at all. If the turn player says, that he wont activate the effect imediatly then the opponent has the chance to respond to the summon. -dest- 10:30, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

After the Turn Player successfully Summons a monster, if there are no Trigger(-like) effects already forming a Chain, then the Turn Player gets the first chance to respond to the Summon. The opponent can't do anything until the Turn Player either activates an effect or passes.
Thus, after the Turn Player successfully Summons "Exiled Force", the Turn Player gets the first chance to respond to its Summon. He can activate the effect of "Exiled Force" before the opponent can activate "Trap Hole". If the opponent wants to activate "Trap Hole" then he has to do it in Chain to the effect of "Exiled Force" - however, "Exiled Force" already Tributed itself as a cost, so it isn't on the field, so "Trap Hole" can't destroy it. Thus, "Trap Hole" can't be activated, since its effect can't resolve properly.
If the opponent activates "Trap Hole" without giving the Turn Player the chance to activate his effect, then the opponent is playing the game improperly. The game rewinds so that the Turn Player gets his chance to respond first - "Trap Hole" is returned face-down.

  • If Levia-Dragon - Daedalus is invoked at the country, while Umi in the field and you activate Trap Hole. Levia-Dragon - Daedalus may apply its effect? — This unsigned comment was made by Judge 3 (talkcontribs) 17:38, March 27, 2010
Yes.
After "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus" is Summoned, you can activate its effect before the opponent can do anything. Your opponent would have to activate "Trap Hole" in Chain to the effect of "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus".
