Forum:Power Insects - Critiqie and Tips

I've been having alot of terrible luck with my Strategy Insect Deck. So I decided to switch to a Power Insect Deck. I don't plan on beating BW, Glads, or any sort of the top tiers with this deck (though it would be nice). I just want a deck that can win some duels, and and at least hold on it's own for a bit against the top tier decks.

[Side Deck]:

As you can see, I'm running a pure Insect Deck. And I'd like to keep it that way. Well, what do you guys think? Critique and Rate please =) I'm happy to receive tips as well. Thank You! Mantisque 16:44, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

  • Where is Chainsaw Insect?? If you want power, that's some pretty epic power. I would also add some Insect Princesses with DNA surgery and Insect Barrier. Needle Worm will devastate a deck as well as Warm worm which can throw off an opponents strategy nicely. And if you are using syncs...you may as well use Underground Arachnid. • Chainsaw Insect is a beastly Insect with ATK. I was considering on Side decking 2 of him. Reason being, is that I don't want to give my opponent more hand advantage. As for Needle Worm and Warm Worm, this deck isn't focused on milling much. True I have 3 Doom Dozer, and I think that's enough milling for this deck. Now these days, milling might help out your opponent alot. Insect Princess is only good with the DNA Surgery combo. But it forces all Insect Type monsters to switch to ATK mode and battle. And alot of monsters with high ATK have pretty low DEF. That's why I run a No Entry and side deck Zero Gravity. I'll consider running an Insect Princess if I find a spell or trap that reduces my opponent's monsters' ATKs to 0 or at least lower than my Insects' ATKs. I'm not so sure about Underground Arachnid. I just don't think it's effect is very special. True it can take one of your opponent's monsters as an equip, but that's only once per turn and one at a time. AND only protects him from destruction from battle; not effects (which are prominently used these days) Mantisque 17:54, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

  • Chainsaw Insect is indeed beastly. However if you do not wish opponent to have hand control, then combo Chainsaw Insect with Robbin' Goblin to make them discard after battle damage. Doom Dozer can also benefit from Robbin' Goblin as well. However, if you do not wish to use Chainsaw Insect, then Jirai Gumo is always an option though I prefer Chainsaw with the higher attack. If you do not wish to use either then put insects that support your high atk insects at least to allow direct attacks to LP. Man-Eater Bug and Swarm of Scarabs will kill opponents monsters, Swarm of Scarabs working multiple times if you are able to protect it. Swarm of Locusts will help with opponents S/T area to prevent opponent from using those against you.

Insect Princess is good to have because the monsters that get stuck in attack position are just your opponents, allowing you access to their life points for a faster kill. Furthermore Princess attack goes up an amazing amount each time she kills one of your opponent insects if using DNA surgery. However, if you need the extra attack boost... Solidarity would do you good as you will be using purely insects and it gives all your monsters a boost of 800 ATK if only one type exists in your graveyard.

Even if your strategy isn't to mill, it is never a bad idea to have one or two warm worms or needle worms to surprise your opponents ^_^ Tutela 22:35, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
