Ok who else thinks that Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon needs atleast a limit if not a ban? i mean dragons are already large for no reason and with the Hieratic, That's DEADLY. so what do you think?--LG talk My own Guides 06:26, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

No, maybe a Semi at best. He's not that broken, since he can't special summon another copy of himself. Without him, dragons aren't as consistent. Plus, wouldn't it be easier for Konami to hit some of the bigger Hieratics? ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 03:00, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

I agree with limiting it, his summon requirements are really light just considering his attack and defense, he can also be revived easily through other cards instead. I don't think his power justifies a total ban, but more than one in a deck can lead to some irritating if not unbeatable comboes. ZGWolf (talkcontribs) 04:12, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

The Hierarchys need/run 2 REDMD for their OTK's, so semi does nothing, However, limiting it almost entirly kills dragons, as even with a 2800+1 every turn, dragons -still- aren't topping outside of OCG, and even then they are just 1 of 5-6 decks atm so it's not exclusivly them, so based on that, it's apprently not overpowered except aganist non-tier'd decks.

Well, if Hierarchs are the problem, then hit them to stop the OTK. Even in a normal Disaster Dragon deck, without 3 REDMD, it's annoying and difficult to get your plays off. Also, most of the time, dragons are dead or hard to use without at least 2-3 REDMD. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 19:59, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

Also, he isn't easily searchable. Even with Eclipse Wyvern he isn't super consistent, because you have to get Wyvern to the grave and banish it. Future Fusion plays with Red-Eyes Wyvern and REDMD are inconsistent, because you run 1 copy of Fusion. Even at 3, and with PoD and a bunch of stuff other draw stuff around, I usually only see REDMD once or so every game, and I run 3 of him. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 20:02, April 15, 2012 (UTC)
Also, this is just an observation, but REDMD's been around for years, if he was as overpowered as you guys claim, he would have been hit already. Plus, Resk has a point, they probably won't hit him this September or ever for that matter, because Dragons don't really top like crazy. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 20:10, April 15, 2012 (UTC)
Funny you should talk about Dragons topping.
This just in [1]. Take a look at first place.

  • One deck sacking to the top doesn't mean much. Dark World did it last month, but only came in Top 8 this time around. On top of that, that was the only Twilight Dragons deck in Top 32. REDMD doesn't need a hit.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 22:34, April 15, 2012 (UTC)
Exactly! Also, I said, "...top like crazy.", so I meant more than 1 top 32 spot, maybe like 6-10 spots would have caught my attention, but 1 really doesn't. It's a great top for that duelist, and he probably deserves it, but Dragons have always been inconsistent, historically. They are better now because of the new support the received in Structure Deck: Dragons Collide. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 01:38, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

I've had a few cheap plays with REDMD played against me. I'd argue that since he is now common, that he should maybe be semi, since before he seemed to be a fairly hard to find limited edition. On the other hand, without REDMD, Dragons get MUCH slower, but not impossible to play. All in all, I'd say semi would be balancing as there are other strategies you can use to effectively run a dragon deck.

I'd say hieratics need a hit more tbh, maybe limit Hieratic Dragon King of Atum or Thunderclap Knight - Gaia Tragoono since limiting either would stop the OTK. One enables the swarm the other lets them finish you off that turn. I don't know much about the deck so that's all I can really suggest.
