Forum:Remove Rider Lock

This deck is based around the two Riders: Chaosrider Gustaph and Diskblade Rider. They each remove a certain type of card to gain an ATK boost - Gustaph removes spells and Diskblade removes traps. Now, how can we build a deck around them? Hmm...

Well, well, well. This deck is primarily centered around the pair of Riders: Gustaph and Diskblade. They each have their own cards that they work well with; D.D. Borderline and Treacherous Trap Hole, respectively. The Hole can destroy 2 of my opponent's monsters, but only if there are no traps in the graveyard. Borderline will stop any and all attacks, but only in the absence of spells in the graveyard. Sound good? I also included 3 Spell Striker because he can never harm me, and can pop off quick shots at my opponent's life points, while keeping my graveyard spell count on the low side.

I also added Necroface. Why? Well, we might as well do something with all those cards we're removing from play, and Necroface is the best choice. That little tentacle-doll-thing will get 100 ATK for every spell, trap or otherwise in the RFG zone of each player, all while giving me back all of my removed options. And that is power, my friends.

For more removal, I put in Soul Release, which will get rid of troublesome threats in my opponent's graveyard as well as my own. I also put in Shrink and Rush Recklessly, and also Rising Air Current to power up both Riders. Shrink and Rush have a subtle function – to turn off Borderline. Imagine boosting Gustaph to 2200 ATK with Rush Recklessly (or cutting something down to his size) and attacking over something, or – if we're lucky – directly. Then, we remove that spell, and boom! The Borderline is back online. Awesome asymmetry, right?

Now, how do you play this deck? However you need to. There's lockdown burn elements with Stealth Bird and Wave-Motion Cannon supplementing D.D. Borderline; you can just snipe your opponent's monsters with Treacherous and boosted Riders, taking potshots with Spell Striker; or you can go crazy with a super-buffed Necroface, or a Synchro monster. Yes; I added Rose, Warrior of Revenge for precisely that purpose. Paired with any level 4 monster, I can pull out Colossal Fighter, Red Dragon Archfiend, Stardust Dragon, or Thought Ruler Archfiend. With Stealth Bird or Spell Striker, I get Dark Strike Fighter and Black Rose Dragon. (In a tight spot? Summon Rose, special summon Spell Striker, and Synchro for Black Rose and bomb the field!) Finally, on the off chance that I'll have Mask of Darkness on the field, I can Synchro for Goyo Guardian or Iron Chain Dragon. (I really couldn't think of anything else to put.) In short, this deck is very versatile – something that I didn't expect when I decided to build a deck around the synergies of Chaosrider Gustaph with D.D. Borderline, and of Diskblade Rider with Treacherous Trap Hole.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck. Runer5h 02:39, 17 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

I looked over your deck and enjoyed it very much. This deck uses a lot of great elements that uses a lot of beatstick monsters mixed with a bit of burn lock. But reviewing it you may want to consider some helpful cards to help counter severe threats. Judgment Dragon is one that will really make you have a bad day that and the netdecked Dark Armed Dragon. Solemn Judgment is a good start, but you may want a more permanent solution. Maybe a Vanity's Fiend may help out. Although you avoid tribute summoned monsters, he may be a great help since you have only two tuners. I know with my Occult Deck I use a Jowgen the Spiritualist, which really upsets DAD players. Another monster to watch out for is Monarchs, as most people just LOVE to netdeck with the Monarchs and DAD. Other than that you have some great plays. Treacherous Trap Hole scares the Hell out of me, because I'm often a passive-aggressive player so with the activation of that to clear the field of my monsters and the following beat it is something I'd rather not get near.

u know, u have 3 rotas, and its only limited to one if ur playing in advance format. secondly, do u think trap hole should be upgraded to bottomless? thirdly, u can also run some caiuses or raizas as well if u want to, since spell striker works awesomely well with monarchs. Oh, hell - the Reinforcement of the Army thing was a typo. I've fixed that. And, now that you mention it, Vanity's Fiend would be an awesome idea (as long as I'm not trying to synchro of use Spell Striker). I was thinking that I'd have quite a few often unnecessary monsters on the field, so giving me a more powerful monster is not so bad. However, as I said, it shuts down Rose and Striker... probably a good side deck pick. I'm thankful for the suggestions, compliments, and pointing-out-of-fallacies from both of you. If you don't mind the 2 tributes, Vanity's Ruler would work better than Vanity's Fiend as it only locks your opponents special summoning capabilities, not your own.

I don't honestly know... anyways, I replaced Trap Hole with Bottomless Trap Hole. That gives an extra boost to Necroface when it's summoned. Runer5h 14:45, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

EDIT: Added side deck.

The side deck is based on your suggestions. The Vanities stop special summoning. Intercept and the Rug are for Monarchs. Judgment of Anubis protects spells and traps; Raiza is a good card that gets boosted by the Current; finally, I added one more each of Bottomless, Reinforcements, and Current for when I need them.
