Forum:Ritual Foregone question.

Okay, quick question. I checked the forums and I couldn't find any solid conclusion either way. Let's say I play Ritual Foregone and summon a ritual monster. could I play something like, say, Forbidden Lance to negate Foregone's effect to prevent it from attacking/destroying it during the end phase?

And if not, is there any way to prevent Foregone's effect from affecting the monster without somehow removing it from the field?

Please read the rulings first next time.

OCG ruling:

"If a non-effect Ritual or Fusion Monster is Special Summoned by the effect of "Ritual Foregone"/"Instant Fusion" when "Non-Spellcasting Area" is applied to the field, it still cannot declare an attack and it will be destroyed during the End Phase."

This part of Ritual Foregone's card text: "The Ritual Monster Special Summoned by this effect cannot attack, and is destroyed during the End Phase." is not an effect, it is a Condition set on the monster that was Special Summoned by it.

Thus, it will not be negated by cards like Forbidden Lance or Non-Spellcasting Area.

As for keeping the monster, you can remove it from the field via Interdimensional Matter Transporter or flip it face-down with cards like Book of Moon.  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 06:51, June 20, 2012 (UTC)
